I've had problems with the heater in my 99' Taurus for 2 years. I've read a number of other entries in this forum with similar problems, so I have a number of things to check (thermostat, blend door, water pump, etc..). I'll describe the situation and if anyone can narrow down the problem it would be appreciated.

I have fairly warm heat (not hot) for a short time when the heater is turned on, which turns to cold air after about 10 seconds. I can turn the heater off for a couple of minutes, turn it back on, and I will again have heat for 10 seconds. This can go on and on.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I found Fireman's answer to this exact problem in another entry. I'll give that a shot, but comments would still be welcomed. Thanks... Joe

Heater core flush did the trick.
