I'm actually not too sure. One of them almost got ran over because she jumped out.

i saw that on TV, afterwards the news guy gave a warning to stay in your vehicle.

That is Funny stuff, I just laughed when i saw the Jag and Mercades hit them....:biggrin:

Why did they jump out of the cars? Did they think they would stop the car or were they thinking they'd be safer jumping out of the car that's only moving 5 mph?

I saw that too.... laughed my ass off.. :lol: they kept playing the clip on NECN and the anchors were getting a kick out of it.

it's like that ALOT up here, but i've never seen a multi-car pile-up like that because of the snow. last month that happened to me. i was driving on a 2-lane highway that had a centre turning lane. i changed lanes into the turning lane in order to turn left onto a side road and felt that feeling where the traction lets go. i started to head into the other lane, and not wanting to have a head-on with another car, i did all that i could (braked, e-braked, turned the wheel) to get my van moving the other way. it did, but again the traction let go and i went right across the right hand lane, off the shoulder and took out a road sign. luckily it snapped like a tooth-pick and did no damage, and luckily i wasn't deep enough in the ditch to get stuck, i just backed out. but it was still nerve-wracking. in cases like that, you're pretty much going where the car's going and can't do much about it.

my aunt actually did $5k of damage to her brand new Honda Odyssey the other night, lost control on an icy highway on-ramp, and she wasn't even doing the speed limit.

if the conditions are like that, simply don't go out! it's easy as that.

at least you were smart enough to stay in your car.

That's the kind of thing that makes all of our auto insurance rates go up.

hehe, it was freezing rain here today, and my mom made some ignorant comment about people driving in slippery conditions...

me: "that is why we should get some snow tires for your van."
her: "snow tires don't help on ice. I grew up in new york."
me: "and I grew up here. I also apparently know a lot more about rubber compounds than you do." :rolleyes:
