96 Taurus Dome Light Stays Onbjunk10 01-13-2005, 07:59 PM My Taurus dome lights were staying on today. I lubed all the door latches / switches with WD-40. Solved the problem.... just thought I would post.... took a while for me to discover the solution..... KimMG 01-14-2005, 07:13 PM WD-40 is a water dispersal compound and will only work as a lubricant for a short time, then it will become gummy and attract dust. Lithium grease will last longer and it is also available in spray cans. mwt 01-15-2005, 09:07 AM Someone should tell the folks at WD40 this and maybe they will shut down production. Solved the problem.... just thought I would post.... took a while for me to discover the solution..... I have a similar problem. When I examined the doors, I don't see any kind of switch like I'm used to seeing on other cars. Is it located behind the door panel or something? iyadnubani 01-24-2005, 11:29 AM I have a similar problem. When I examined the doors, I don't see any kind of switch like I'm used to seeing on other cars. Is it located behind the door panel or something? The switch is located on the door itself, inside the door latch. Mac626 01-24-2005, 11:36 AM The switch is located on the door itself, inside the door latch. Thanks - Do I need to remove the latch, or simply spray lubricant into it directly? iyadnubani 01-24-2005, 02:34 PM Just spray lubricant directly into it, you might need to do it more than once. jcl27 01-24-2005, 07:39 PM after spraying the wd 40 in the latches, slam each door 5 to 10 times to completly work the lubrication to the switch.seems to work for the real stubborn ones. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
