Motor Swap help

I had a friend give me a 1995 5.0 engine and tranny and i have a 2000 v6 ... i want to swap out motors and i was wondering how hard this would be... what will i have to change... both have auto tranny's

the AOD tranny should bolt right up no problem, you'll have to figure out how to wire its neutral safety switch and backup lights into your car's harness, shouldn't be hard at all. you'll need to change your k-member to one that will accept a 5.0, i think they're between 2 and 3 hundred dollars from Maximum Motorsports, that install's just a pain in the ass. only other thing you'll need is an exhaust system that fits a 5.0's headers, i'd buy a system for a 94-95 5.0 and tweak it to fit yoru car (shouldn't be horribly challenging). then you just have to contend with the 5.0's wiring, which is a lot simpler than a late v6's. should just be able to pull the computer and harness out of a 5.0 car and fit it to your engine bay. from there, it's just getting intake parts to fit and little tweaks here and there.

1st thing right off the bat.. it's not legal to put that 5.0L into your 2000 mustang.

2nd things, ALL of the wiring harness'es would need to be replaced, so basically take everything out of a 5.0L 94/95 mustang, and stick it in yours.

3rd, the 5.0L will sit perfectly in your K-member.

4th, it's easier to do a GT swap from 99+ than your swap. Less parts to change.(wireing wise)

5th, you can legally drop in a 5.4L into your car because for the year 2000, the 5.4L engine was offered (aka Cobra R).

6th, I am doing a 96 V6 to 01 Cobra engine swap, and it's not easy, and we have spent about $4000 more than what was expected because of little things that was needed.
