1999 Expedition AWD - problem

Wow, we are having a bad start to '05.

My wife drove away this morning and the AWD is aparently stuck in LOW RANGE, as indicated on the dash. I drove the truck and it is clearly driving in 4 Wheel Low.

I didn't touch the switch, and I never use it in 4 wheel low.

Not sure what the fix is? The switch is in the AWD position.

I need to have it towed unless there is an over-ride function to
get it back to AWD.

Thanks for any insight.

I had this same problem, right after I bought my used Expedition. It was still under the 36K mile warranty. They determined that the front axle speed sensor was bad. It sensed that the rear tires were slipping. After replacing the sensor 3x's it was finally fixed.
