Introduction / 1997 Dodge Ram SLT 4x4DCDodge 01-12-2005, 03:59 PM Hello to all. I'm new to the site and I just wanted to say that I look forward to reading the helpful advice that I see is posted, as well as helping others out, if I'm able. I am hoping to be purchasing a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie SLT, Club Cab, 4x4, w/ 5.9L auto. trans. in the next couple of days. The truck has 180,000 actual miles, however, the current owner (who I know) had a new factory engine installed at 158,000 miles and a factory rebuilt tranny installed at 145,000. He has never had any MAJOR problems with this truck, of course he has always performed extensive regular servicing on all mechanical parts. I guess I would just like to hear any pro or con input concerning this make, model, etc. truck. Any input, or advise, would be greatly appreciated. BleedDodge 01-12-2005, 04:56 PM They're alright. DCDodge 01-12-2005, 08:35 PM They're alright....as in go for it, or as in I could do better. I'm getting the truck for $4500.00 because he needs the cash fast to move to Pa. BleedDodge 01-12-2005, 10:44 PM You say he never had any major problems with this truck. It doesn't have the original engine or trans in it now. That's about as bad as it gets. For $4500.00 you couldn't go wrong I don't think. DCDodge 01-29-2005, 01:50 AM You say he never had any major problems with this truck. It doesn't have the original engine or trans in it now. I went ahead and changed all of the fluids and filters and she runs like a dream. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
