First of all, excuse me for bad writning... reason is im not from US but from sweden, the little country in northern europe for those that didn't know

I am (maybe) about to buy a VW Transporter (thats what they are called in europe...) with mileage = 280000 km = alot i would think...

The car is equipped with an automatic gearbox and that is the one that confuses me. Of course different parts get worn out like wheel bearings and stuff, but i see them as no issues actually. I am most worried for expensive repairs like gearbox and engine failures. Electrical issues as well probably...

So is there anyone that can give me a hint of what to ensure of a car like this before buying it?

Many thanks in advance!!

if it is a manual 5-speed transmisson, you are fine.

The VW Automatic transmissons are poor. They only last for about 80,000 miles before they fail. A rebuilt transmisson is expensive $3000 US dollars and up.

You must avoid any US Eurovan with Automatic Transmission.
