Anyone know what the standard speaker sizes are for the rear deck and kick panel speakers of the '94 Civic EX 4dr? I'm looking to add a replacement MP3 deck to start with and will then add speakers when I'm awash in cash (yeah right).

Recommendations on deck? Circuit city has some nice deals on pioneer and aiwa MP3 Decs for 199-300.

the size for your civic is 6.5" all around. pioneer decks are good. don't go with aiwa. their decks are cheap. the buttons and volume knobs feels like thin plastics. here are some of the decks that are MP3 compatible:

Blaupunkt MP3000
Blaupunkt San Jose
Panasonic MXE CQ-DFX572U
Panasonic CQ-DP171U
JVC Digifine2.1 KD-SH-99
Jensen MP5010K
Jensen MP 3510
Pioneer DEH-P7400MP
Rockford Fosgate RFX9000

Yeah I am going for that pioneer mp3 player soon, I hvae the 6400 which is the OEL non mp3 deck and it still kicks butt (just with the HU I can crank it up to like 3/4 full volume and the sound doesn't distort even with a little bass boost) just the CDs come out REALLY hot when they are done playing :(

Watch out for Fosgate speakers, I bought some 6.5 inch fosgates and they said 6.5 inch but they are clearly NOT!!! They are more like 7 at the mounting brackets.

I found out the guy who sold me my car had installed Boston RX67 in the back (actually knocked off $100 for broken speaker, turns out someone had jammed a business card in the back, it works fine) and some eclipses up front, both of which sound pretty good and I have seen the RX67 for cheap cuz they aren't too new but they can handle up to 160 watts.

The Pioneer DEH-P7400MP appears to be satellite radio ready.

I'm having a great deal of difficulty finding 6.5" speakers that actually fit the stock locations without cutting. The stockers are 6.25" at the mounting brackets. I picked up a set of Bazooka RS600's and they definitely do not fit - 6.75" at the brackets.

Anyone out there have tried and true recommendations on something that will fit and live behind 50W from the Pioneer 7400 deck?

I am in the same predicament, I have been unable to find speakers that are both good and truly fit. Seems all the ones I have are bigger than the mounting area in the civic. Makes me wonder if honda make some cars with different size mounting areas or what.

Looks like the suggested cut-out dia from crutchfield is 5" or less. A lot of 6.5" speakers have cut-out dia. over 5". The Bazooka RS600's are around 5 11/16". Sheetmetal cutting is definitely required.

The rear deck speaker are 6.5". My roomate just change his rear deck speackers with a set of infinity's that I had in the garage and fit just fine. And the sound that you get from those speackers is awasome. good luck. stefan525:eek:
