I have a 2004 Sentra 1.8s and want to put a SR20DET FWD engine in it. Is this possible or will I have to stick with the 1.8 and fix that up?

u will need sr20det motor, sr20 5spd tranny preferably 91-97 ser tranny, b13-b14 ser wiring harness and ecu. or the wiring harness and ecu from the det. u could just save yourself the hassle abd just but a gtir, bluebird, avenir front clip for around 2,600 and you will have everything u will need there except for the usdm 5spd tranny which u can find just about anywhere

It sounds like you're not too sure what you want to do with your car. IMO, save the new Sentra and buy an older B13 or newer platform and swap a DET into that. There would be too many problems with the swap you're talking about.

Theres a lot more info for this swap with 240sx's. I would keep that nice 04 sentra, and buy a 91-93 (s13) or a 94-98(s14). You could even get away with a 1988-90. only difference is that the 88-90 is sohc, and the 1991-93 has the dohc.

even though this thread is pretty old...some clarification:

89-94: s13 (89-90 are hog-nosed...91-94 are slope-nosed)
95-98: s14 (95-96 are round eyes...97-98 are angry eyes)

There were some s13s produced midway through 88, but they were sold as 89s. In 94 they only made convertibles. The s13 was offered in three styles: coupe, fastback and convertible, while the s14 was only offered in coupe. 89-90 s13s have a different and more angular bumper than the later model (91-94) s13s, along with having a sohc, while all s14s are dohc. 95-96 240sx have rounder headlights and smoothe taillights, while the later models have a very angular and aggressive front end and "ribbed" taillights.

anyhow, swapping an sr20 into a sentra or a 240sx is a major task...personally I'd turbo your 1.8...or trade it in for a 2.0 or a 2.5.
