ANYONE GO UP TO 200MPH with a P11?G20TurboVisionCrew 03-08-2002, 06:16 PM I was wondering if anyone knew where to get these speedometers, i know they are from primeras, but do they work on the G20T's? I am gonna be doing stuff to my engine soon, and i know that i am going to go faster than my speedometer reads right now (actually i already do!, fastest i've gone was 135-40 on the p11) But i want to keep my car as classsy as possible so i dont want TOO many gauges in my car, can someone tell me where i might be able to get this? Can an infiniti dealer get it ya know? http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/178687AutomotiveForums.com-DualGaugePillars.jpg Mike.Com 03-08-2002, 07:26 PM That's in Kilometers per hour. 200 KMH is like 125 MPH. :) You can get it in Mexico or Canada since they use KMH. G20TurboVisionCrew 03-08-2002, 07:52 PM Oh damn, i thought i was lucky this time, but ofcourse, i was hoping that that wasen't what i thought it was.....DAMN Outta luck again :( killick 03-08-2002, 08:58 PM My 2k1 Sentra SE has titanium-face gauges that go up to 240 km/hr (~150 mph). I had the 2001 G20 brochure but I lost it. I remember that the G20t had similar gauges, but I don't remember how fast. If they also go to 240, you might be able to just swap it in. Cool gauges... white-face in daytime, black-face at night. I like 'em :) And you wouldn't have to worry about learning kilometreze... outer numbers in km, inner numbers in mph. (though your odometer would register in km). (and yes, I'm Canadian) Any Canadian owners with a 2001 G20t around? Do these gauges go to 240 km/hr? For that matter, you might be able to swap in the gauges from a Sentra SE... the cluster looks remarkably similar. Cheers. slickkedar 03-08-2002, 08:58 PM somebody, like ten months back, did the math, i think the fastest our cars can possibly go is 177 mph i think. wickedG20 03-09-2002, 03:13 AM Lol, first time I checked that picture out back in May of 2000, I was wondering why the speedometer's max is 200. Then I read that the owner is from Canada, (that owner being G-forces, w3rD :hehe: ) and I felt stupid. 95_G20_P10 03-09-2002, 03:16 AM canada uses km/h?? i ddint know that T4 Primera 03-09-2002, 03:39 AM Originally posted by slickkedar somebody, like ten months back, did the math, i think the fastest our cars can possibly go is 177 mph i think. That is where the gearing runs out at redline in top. To do that you'll need around 200+ whp just to overcome wind resistance. Add more hp for rolling resistance and still more hp if you wanna top out within a reasonable distance. napakapa 03-09-2002, 03:43 AM Originally posted by T4 Primera That is where the gearing runs out at redline in top. He is right , to overcome such a high wind resistance at 170 mph, you will need a lot more horsepower than 140~ that we have. Take a Prelude with 200hp for example, max out at 140~mpg. And at such a high speed, the suspension, wheel/tires combination is essential to achieve. b-b00gie 03-09-2002, 07:25 PM Originally posted by slickkedar somebody, like ten months back, did the math, i think the fastest our cars can possibly go is 177 mph i think. I believe it was Andreas Miko. He's built or help built the fastest SR20's in the US. What he said was *if* you could get to 8000rpms in 5th gear and SR20 tranny could go a top speed of 177mph due to the gear ratio (I believe it was 177). He also pointed out that with a G20t tranny (I guess the 2000+ since we have different gear ratios) if you could get to 8000rpms in 5th gear you could do a max of 196mph. EDIT: OK I found his quote: "A SE-R gear box will go up to 175-180 MPH in fifth gear at 8000 RPMs depending upon tire size I know I have seen the far side of fifth gear many times. If you want more top end than that then get a G20T box. If you can get it to 8000 RPMs in fifth it comes out to about 192MPH." slickkedar 03-09-2002, 08:20 PM Originally posted by napakapa He is right , to overcome such a high wind resistance at 170 mph, you will need a lot more horsepower than 140~ that we have. I never said this could happen with a stock car. 95_G20_P10 03-09-2002, 10:17 PM is that 196 in a stock G20??????? thats ome serious speed b-b00gie 03-10-2002, 12:08 AM Originally posted by 95_G20_P10 is that 196 in a stock G20??????? thats ome serious speed I corrected it: 192mph. I doubt the engine in stock form could ever get to that rpm in 5th gear, not to mention that the stock ECU program wouldnt allow it anyway even if it could. killick 03-10-2002, 09:37 PM Originally posted by killick I remember that the G20t had similar gauges, but I don't remember how fast. Saw a 2001 G20t at our local Infinity dealer today... it has the titantium guages, but (alas) they only go to 200 km/h. Responding to other posts on this thread, to get to 170-190 mph would take some serious horsepower... we're talking supercar speeds here ... and a G20 is nowhere near as aerodynamic as, say, a Ferrari. My guess would be 500+ whp. Not sure I'd like to be behind the wheel of a sedan at that speed. Suspect the back end would be starting to get rather light. :) Cheers. b-b00gie 03-11-2002, 12:18 AM Originally posted by killick Responding to other posts on this thread, to get to 170-190 mph would take some serious horsepower... we're talking supercar speeds here ... and a G20 is nowhere near as aerodynamic as, say, a Ferrari. What was said was *IF* you could get the car to 8000rpms in 5th gear, those are the top speeds you would see due to the gear ratios. To get 8000rpms in 5th gear may take 500, 600, 800hp, who knows. MrFancypants 03-12-2002, 11:30 AM The G20t gearbox with the taller 5th gear is on the P10, not the P11. You need the gearset from the older G20. It was designed to make the car quieter, but ended up making it pig slow too! All P11's have the same 5th gear, shared with the Sentra SE-R. The only gears they changed in later P11 years ('00+) are 1st and 2nd, to make the car have better pickup. 3rd through 5th are the same. At least, according to what I've read. A really cool mod for a turbo car would be to get a P10 gearset. Not trying to be a smart ass or anything but if u found these gauges wouldnt your reading still be off seeing that your needle wouldnt correspond to the actual speed you would be travelleing at? eg. Old dash says - 100mph New dash says - 160mph See what I mean. Would u be able to re callibrate ur speedo that much?
