The future of Saturn

The unique and independent bastard child of GM is gone. In the next few years a new saturn will be formed, under GM's full power. early predictions of Saturn's new style seem to me will be just as unique as ever. The beginning of the change to many started with the end of the S-series, a slap in the face from GM to some enthusiasts. 2005 will be a true show of Saturn's new charactior. The L-series is all but gone, not even mectioned in the 2005 sales catalog. The RELAY minivan offers a few features i've never seen in a car, like a toy box, but at the same time, it is the first fully rebaiged Saturn, shared with Buick, Chevy, and Pointac. The RELAY will also not offer Saturn's trademark polymer bodypanels. 2006 and 2007 will also be milestone years, the hybird VUE and 2 or 3 new models will be released. Saturn.com has just opened a future vehicles section, featuring the SKY and concept AURA - http://www.saturn.com/saturn/showroom/future_vehicles/index.jsp?nav=700

i like the polymer sides. i dont think they should take them away especially with a minivan, little kids running around. dent resistant = GOOD. haha.

yeah i agree... polymer is saturns trademark and they should never get rid of it. other company's are just starting to catch on to the genious idea

i love the sky concept. id never thought i'd buy an american car until this beautiful concept. id just like to know that since the solistce and sky are basically the same cars with the same engine and platform, how come the sky will start at "Under 25k" and the solistce at under 20k USD?

I'm totally against what GM are doing to Saturn, essentially sucking out all the originality which makes Saturn what it is. I mean there is nothing wrong with the RELAY van but it hardly fits in with the rest of Saturns range. The styling is way off, perhaps it they had given it a VUE front-end and new rear-lamps but against the sharp ION and VUE it looks awful. The new models are no better the SKY looks nothing like the concept shown in 2001, instead GM has chosen the easy route and rebadged the forthcoming Vauxhall VX-Lightening. As for the Aura it is merely a glimpse at the facelifted Vauxhall/Opel Vectra, coming out in September. Although these cars look great they have none of the unique Saturn 'DNA' in there styling. GM should really think carefully about what they are doing with Saturn and who they are targeting because just now it clashes with both Chevrolet and Pontiac. They have a brand which is both bold and innovative(a cut above the rest in GM's portfolio) why throw it away?...My first idea would be to evolve the classic look of Saturn further not totally change it.

saturns come a long way since the beginning.. not too crazy about the new designs but that relay sure as hell kicks some serious ass.. even the ion redline i test drove at the dealer ship is one hell of a powerful saturn. i gotta say thats as close to having an orgasm with out a girl as you can get!

Umm..

The 2007 Saturn Sky will use the 2006 Pontiac Solstice's chassis which is all-new.

and the 2002 Pontiac Solstice Roadster concept which came out at the 2002 Detroit auto show

The Saturn Aura concept looks far better than the stuff they have today.
