I will not be held accountable for anything you screw up !:bigthumb:
Ok guys...here it is...took me forever to get around to it but heres your how to.....if you didnt see the original thread to here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=338521)
1) rip that bad boy out...start my taking out your sun visors....just a couple of screws...figure it out...next take the plastic strip off the back side of the head liner towards the rear glass...also get the clothes hanger pieces off too....anything in the way of the headliner needs to come down...figure it out...you guys are resourcefull
2) pull the headliner out...once you get it out you should see sheet metal...next start peeling off the original material...just peeeeeeeeeeeeell it away...once you get it all off take a wire brush and scrape all the excess stuff off the board itself...your going to reuse it....
3) next find your foam rubber or mat...stuff like they have in gyms to stretch on...just something foamy...cut it in the shape you want...skys the limit here...whatever you want to put in your headliner...remember you have to form your material around it so dont make it too intricate
4) ok next step...get all your stuff in one place if you dont already...(material for headliner, headliner board, adhesive, razor blade)...spray your adhesive however directed...the stuff i used was by 3M and came in a black can...if you can find this stuff use it...it sticks really well...anyways spray the foam rubber and the headliner and let tack for a few seconds...then steck the foam rubber cut out on the headliner and hold it for 2-3 minutes...this stuff holds so once it goes down no comin back up with some work...
5) for this step i suggest you have a friend to help by holding the material so it doesnt stick before you want it to....when your done with step 4 spray down both the headliner and whatever material you are using for it (i used tweed)...once they tack lay the headliner in the center first and form it around the emblem....have your partner hold the ends of the material so you can work your way out without worrying about the 2 sticking togather too soon....like i said work your way out from the center until you get to the edge...once you get to the edge keep working and rubbing the headliner and make sure everything is sticking like it should...
6) short step...take your razor and cut off excess material but leave about an inch and a half all the way around for the next step
7) once you have the headliner done sticking on one side and trimed...flip it over and spray around the edge of the headliner on the back side..be sure to get the 1.5 inch edge you left arounddthe edge..next wrap it around so the material sticks on the back side of the headliner for extra support.
8) ok almost there...now take your razor (still on the back side) and cut out all the holes you need for your dome lights, sun visors, sun roofs, whatever..if there is a hole in the headliner cut a hole in the material because its there for a reason...once your done with that........
9)repeat step 1 in reverse and your done! now sit back...relax...and enjoy your new headliner!
if i left anything out or you need more details just ask...ill try to check this every night
