Want Power (knowledgeable people only plz)Lychus 01-04-2005, 11:37 PM Ive been thinking alot lately about what to do with my 95 Gsr. I know what i want to do interior and exterior wise, however; i cant make up my mind with what to do in my engine. Now I would go all motor and raise the compression aswell as use toda components. i like toda. Theres also a supercharger. Question.. can you raise the compression and supercharge.. and use vtec aswell as supercharge or is it just like a turbo where you gotta lower the compression?? What kind of things do i need to do inorder to successfully build a realiable turbo gsr? thats my dilema and im sure im not the only one on that boat.. but if you guys could explain to me how they all work maybe i will be able to decide what i want. I like the tubo or supercharge idea but my motor has 230K on it.. and i want to rebuild it before i do either. Also how is resleeving the motor gonna help and what exactly is it. It sounds like im an idiot but i love my gsr but this is my first honda.. actually my first piston car period. and i want to keep it. I owned a first gen before. I appreaciate all the help. thank you. pikkagtr 01-05-2005, 04:22 AM well if you want big power you can go supercharger/turbo route yes the VTEC system will still be there unless you take it off by swapping heads ur self most of the time if u want to run boost reliably you tend to want to LOWER ur compression sleeving the engine will reinforce the cylinder walls making less prone to cracking under extra boost from ie..the turbo my advice is if you have a high mileage engine and want to boost it, the supercharger is a safer way to go and it will net you a decent 35-40 hp increase at the wheels in stock form civickiller 01-05-2005, 06:02 AM how much hp do you want ? letting us know this will help us tell you exactly what you should replace to have a reliable motor resleeving the motor is taking out the old sleeves and putting in either iron sleeves or stock sleeve replacements. stock sleeves if tuend good can handle over 500whp but if it deontates it will probably crack a sleeve. with iron sleeves it can handle some detonation and it takes alot more to crack them. Lychus 01-06-2005, 11:41 PM i want to run mid to low twelves.. so i assume about 240 hp would give you 12s? Not sure but thats about as far as i really need to go civickiller 01-07-2005, 02:47 AM boost your gsr motor to 300whp. it can handle 300whp bone stock on a good tune. that should get you into low 12s kris 01-10-2005, 09:00 AM A well setup Nitrous system, tuned correctly, is also a option. Schister66 01-10-2005, 10:37 AM You can raise the compression and super/turbocharge the engine as long as when you rebuild it, you use high quality high performance parts and i would have a professional shop blueprint and balance the engine just to be sure that it is bulletproof. I might also get wet sleeves put in the block so i don't have to worry about the cylinder walls being too thin, out of round or having too much taper. BTW I still get 26MPG and when I'm cruising on the freeway my temp reads an 8th of the way.
