Today I have seen my 6th (or 7th?) McLaren F1!!!!!!!

I was in Germany near Stuttgart and went to Gemballa (Porsche tuner) Above this tuner is a dealer called Griesheimer and there the grey McLaren F1 with LM bodykit stood underneath a cover. We asked the guy there if he could be so kind to get the cover of. He DID!
We evendid put the cover back on ourselves! Now THAT is a weird feeling:-)

Anyways took many nice pics of it so if anyone can host these for me;-)

The chassisnr is 018. You can see a pic of it at www.mclarenf1.de

What a day!

Also drove a Porsche 997 TechArt today:-)

Patrick T.

You can email your photos to me at Peloton25@hotmail.com and I will be able to host them for everyone in a few hours.

Congrats! I wasn't aware that #018 had received the LM Kit, but if the interior is light tan in color, I have a feeling I may have at least three other photos of this car.

Any idea on who it's current owner is or if the car is for sale?

I think you might be confusing it with #016 seen here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=171800) - actually the links to the images are broken.

#018 was this car here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=182067) apparently - what a shame too, as it used to be one of my favorites for the short time we've had photos of it.

that blue one isnt 018!

How can you be so certain?

Those photos of it painted blue were taken in 1999. F1s have been refitted by the factory on multiple occasions to satisfy the tastes of a new owner. The website I got that last photo of the blue F1 from clearly stated that the car was #018 - even Thorst saw it.

Also, if you check the original chassis list found here (http://www.qv500.com/mclarenf1p2.htm) you will see that #018 was originally painted 'Midnight Blue Pearl' which certainly describes that blue color as far as I am concerned.

then it has been heavily modified.

It now has a big wing, LM bumper and different paint

Well I still CANT imagine the blue one and the grey I saw are the same chassis. Those cars are completely different. Nothing is the same!
Who on earth would modd a nice blue Mac so heavily

Possibility is that the blue one crashed?? and was rebuild??

Well if you think about it, when #018 was originally built in 1994 the High Downforce Kit simply did not exist as the GTRs had not even been built yet.

It happens all the time - think about Dan Kennedy's F1, it went from plain silver to his customized orange. Also, chassis #011 and #073 - the two cars that sold through Christies Auctions both received major changes from their original look prior to being auctioned. Chassis #020 started out as a Blue F1 and was built before the HDF Kit was available, but it's now a dark grey (almost black) F1 with a red stripe on the door and it too now wears the HDF Kit.

All this reworking could occur due to a crash, but I don't have any info that #018 was ever wrecked.

The shot of the FINA car with the other BMWs in the background was taken at PTG Racing here in the USA. They maintain that car for BMW USA who brings it out on occasion to different enthusiast events. The shot of it on track comes from Silverstone I believe.

yes I think you're right.

I read somewhere that when an F1 is resold it goes back to the factory and gets upgrades that the new customer wants.

They should leave it in its original state...

But then: this grey 018 is awesome:-D

mini magic
01-07-2005, 04:26 PM
No, why would they leave it original? That would mean that its not personalized to someones own tastes. The original owners specified their own colors etc and so when one is sold to a new owner, they are treated the same. the car is made "as new" and changed to the way the new owner wants it. I can think of quite a few F1's where the new owners would object to its old setup.

I read somewhere that when an F1 is resold it goes back to the factory and gets upgrades that the new customer wants.

Some owners do, other choose to keep the car as is. Mr Selldorff's cars are still original as far as I am aware. I don't think Jay Leno's #015 has been changed from new either.

They should leave it in its original state...

I agree with this statement, but at the same time I'm sure I could come up with my own ways to customize an F1 to my taste. When someone spends that much on a car they will probably want it to be as perfect as possible in their eyes. I'm sure if McLaren Cars wasn't willing to do it that we would see far less F1 transformations.

WOW! You are very fortunate to have seen all those cars! Nice pics, this is indeed a mystery...

The way i see it in the fullness of time both paint and leather go rotten evenuilly so long as some cars are keepet original like 068 and 065 (i hope) then varity is the spice of life and the cars should be used and enjoyed i for one would be tempted to have an f1 painted the same as the blue minichanps model. Most of the greates cars get havaily moded over there lifes these modes are not permint i belive and can be put back. As such all these veraitions give us something to talk about and have created some lovley setups 011 for exammple its all good as far as im concerned wouldnt it be boreing if they came in say 5 standard colous and that was it? I for one enjoy being able to eithe sit back in ore or cry out in horrar its thiese transformations than help make the f1 so intresting and keep us entertained but it would be terrable if all car were hevaily moded thats for shore.

Just my :2cents:

Do any of you remember when that McLaren owner went on pistonheads? I remember that he said he looked at a Midnight Blue Pearl mclaren with "Forest Green/Yellow" interior. The photos of the grey mclaren with the blurred out background were some of the 1st photos i remember seeing of a mclaren. If we could find out when Flemke got his mclaren we could pin point specifically when the transformation could have taken place.

Just a little more info i thought i might add.

Could it be that #018 was also offered at carclassic in the past?
This description matches pretty much #018!
(I know it is not a gt, and the photos are wrong too)
But if its true, #018 got some major upgrades!

I think i get what hes saying that the dealer got lazy and posted these pics insted of ones of the car that is actually being offered hece the lack of description matching pics i belive that the german service station has advertised cars there in the past like the former George Harrison car (anybody got thos pis i cant find them there were on my old machine.) Is that whats being suggested?

I'm talking about the text which is written there, not the photos!!!
Car #045 is from 1995 not from 1994 !!
Car #018 which is offered by Griesheimer has 11500 km and was first registered 01.04.1994.
This facts are pretty much the same as in the text at carclassic.
BTW #018 was on display at serveral car dealers in the past (auto-salon-singen, Schaefer Automobile)
so it could be possible carcalssic owed it too.
If the text matches #018, it would be the most powerful McLaren I konw........

I cant help but notice that the outher upgraded engine 073 like 018 had the over frount weel vents could the vents signify more power somehow? Also is 700bhb that acurate or is it just rounding up to the the nearst large number eg 680 becomes 700 the text is not that acurate after all.
