I have a 94 ford escort 1.9L
My engine light has been on, I did I self diagnosis and the code I got was 214 defined as a Cylinder ID circuit faliure. This matches my drop in fuel efficency. My problem is I can't find any information on how to fix it. My Haynes repair manual doesn't mention this at all. I have found some web information that says the CID is the same as a Camshaft Position Sensor( http://www.auto-solve.com/cid.htm )
Anyone have any help here?

The only reference I could find to the CID is a circuit that goes to the Crankshaft Position Sensor. It may indicate that the CPS is bad and needs replaced. I would replace the CPS and see if the code goes away. If not you may also need to replace the ignition control module to solve the problem. Hope this helps!

CID=Camshaft position sensor not the crank sensor. Its maybe 2-3 inches long and bolts into the back of the head near the throttle body. It has a two wire connector going to it. And here's the fun part.....in order to change it you have to remove the intake manifold because its too long to pull out before hitting the manifold.
