Progress: VW 1300 Beetlechaos 01-02-2005, 05:28 PM I saw a similar color combo on a Beetle on the streets here, and thought I'd have a go at building one! The kit is the Tamiya '66 bug - as you can see I have to redo the white as the blue has leaked. Also, the white bits have got textured from the masking tape I used  ...I reckon, I should have let the white dry a little longer before masking - this time, I'm waiting some time before masking off the blue!! Unsure of the wheels I'll end up using...depends on the the interior, etc. and what looks best!! :) http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/54375DSCF0001.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/54375DSCF00021.JPG mike united 01-02-2005, 05:46 PM Cool project !!! ol' dude 01-02-2005, 06:19 PM Thats going to be cool! Sorry about your bleed through!! Keep us posted on the progress!! dyowelb 01-02-2005, 07:04 PM cool project... the wheel on the right looks good.. Camber 01-02-2005, 07:08 PM Aw, thats always a bummer when you peel the tape away and you see that the paint has bled through. A little tip for you is to spray some light coats of clear coat over the body while it's masked off, wait 5 or 10 minutes and the tape will have a better seal. The paint will then less likely bleed through. blubaja 01-02-2005, 10:46 PM Hey, Hate it when the tape doesnt work for you:-/ What kind of tape did you use? Did you try the blue painters tape? Seems to work pretty well for me. What rims are on the front/back of the bug? Keep up the cool work. Frank X. JTRACING 01-03-2005, 03:32 AM Thats gonna look good with the 2-tone colors! Wheelin75r 01-03-2005, 03:55 AM A Beetle is always a nice project. Maybe try some chrome(Pegasus) rims, some Californian style. :naughty: deedlit 01-03-2005, 12:25 PM I know what you feel with the paint bleeding, I had the same problem on my two tone beetle (see sig). So, that's an interesting thread, I'll keep an eye on it. Can't wait for more  chaos 01-03-2005, 08:42 PM Aw, thats always a bummer when you peel the tape away and you see that the paint has bled through. I sprayed lightly sprayed on the blue, hoping it would seal better - guess it didn't work! :) Hate it when the tape doesnt work for you:-/ What kind of tape did you use? I think the rims are from the Fujimi R33 and Evo 4..if I remember correctly!
