S-AFCII enough for fuelmanagement?wickedboost 12-31-2004, 10:26 AM For my DIY turboproject on a d16, am i done with fuelmanagement if i have an S-AFC (will it run)? Or do i need an FMU together with the afc to complete management. I know afc with bigger injectors will do, but can't u use afc with stock (d16z6) injectors, do you really need an fmu? 97CivicX 01-01-2005, 05:34 PM safc is fine. you WILL NEED larger injectors, 440 or 450cc. either get a set of RC's or some dsm's(with resistors/resistor box) wickedboost 01-03-2005, 08:22 AM So s-afc with stock injectors won't work. Quite difficult to get (dsm) 440/450cc's here in nl/europe without paying alot of money. Doens't matter anyway, i'll go for more boost in the future. AdvanTech 01-03-2005, 11:01 AM You'll definately need bigger injectors for your turbo d. If you do use bigger injectors, you will be doing what is called the "AFC Hack" but you won't be able to safely run high boost with it as you are "tricking" the AFc in thinking it's still the stock size injectors. Here's a little writeup on it We are actually going to lean things out with the AFC. If we just stick in larger injectors the car won't even run. It would be ungodly rich running on the stock fuel map. The ECU has no idea there are 100% larger injectors sitting in the rail and is still sending the same injector pulses. So how much should you lean out? Let's say you have 240cc injectors stock (most civics) and you want to idle a set of 440cc injectors as if they were stock. With a little math we see this: 240/440 = 54%/100% So we need to take 46% of the fuel away from 440cc injectors to run them like 240cc injectors. Now this is not a perfect conversion because there are more factors than this, but it gives you a ballpark # to start with. As for settings under boost that varies a lot, but under WOT and full boost of 8-12psi a setting of -35 to -30 on the AFC should keep things good and rich. As you cna see, there will be a limit as to how much fuel you can take away, so it's not the perfect engine management solution, but is ok if you're running a low enough boost level. If you're tight on money, I recommend Uberdata. It does everything a Hondata unit can do (fuel, ignition, boost control, etc.) and the best partis it's free  I suggest you read up on it and determine what engine management you want to use. wickedboost 01-04-2005, 01:25 PM Thx, gr8 reply! :) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
