My 90 chev 1/2 ton has a green wire with a plug type end that is comming out of the large wiring harness behind the distributor.it is a male end that obviously belongs somewhere. Also i was told that the brown wire for timing the engine was in this area but after looking in the large harness i cannot find it.ANY HELP?thanks

The brown wire you're looking for is behind the black plastic relay cover on the right side of the firewall. This wire gets disconnected when setting the timing.

oh i was told it was in the black coil harness so i guess i was looking for the wire in the wrong place.

so do you know, fixnfly, what the green wire is that is protruding from the black wire protector behind the dist?
