Chevy 3500 Dooley Slammerataschner 12-30-2004, 09:10 AM Folks, what do you think about this project:? Chevy 3500 Dooley Slammer http://www.alexandre.taschner.nom.br/Geral/Silverado01.jpg I was thinking about putting under the hood a '90 Corvette ZR1-LT5 engine. I want to paint it black / orange candy The wheels are from Aoshima. I would like to hear suggestions and if possible, some pictures in that style. Thanks in advance! SupaMan89T 12-30-2004, 09:23 AM where did you get the dish for those rear wheels!? Jurva 12-30-2004, 09:52 AM Keep that paint scheme. I like it. Paint it, deep dark maroon red. There has been enough of that black/orange/silver painted silverados. spitfire143 12-30-2004, 10:36 AM my neighbor has a truck simular, in a tan color, pretty sweet pickup! Ran 12-30-2004, 10:50 AM Hey! That is awesome work, esspecially the lowering! I have the exact same model. I wanted to lower it but I had no luck, after all my attempts to lower it I just gave up and tried to modify it, and in the process wrecked it up. Do you have a AIM or MSN messanger? I would really appriciate it if you could tell me how you lowered it. Thanks! ataschner 12-30-2004, 10:55 AM SupaMan89T It is a simply exercise. I caught two rings of other Aoshima wheels and I joined them, making a wide dish. Then I put the same front wheel in the tire, giving the appearance of inverted wheel. Jurva Well... really has a lot of this black / orange / silver scheme... but I like that combination black / orange. I wondering to do some ghost graphs in the orange area, with some stars ou somestrips.... A friend of mine (thanks Magli) just drew this scheme: the darkest area would be the black. The clearest area would be the orange, with the strips in the ghost style. What do you think about it? http://www.alexandre.taschner.nom.br/Geral/pickup_desenho.jpg spitfire143 12-30-2004, 11:06 AM I say use that color scheme!!!!!!!!! ol' dude 12-30-2004, 11:14 AM I have this same kit, and now I know what to do with it!! Keep us posted on the progress!! Before you get slammed, post this build in the completed and progress thread!!!!!!!!!!! primera man 12-30-2004, 01:26 PM :bigthumb: Some kind of 2 tone paint would look good DukeMan 12-30-2004, 08:40 PM Yea that color scheme looks perfect! But please make a bed cover for it and IMO it would look really nice if you let the stripes run along the whole car. And maybe insert a hood scoop, I don´t know if you´re planning to do a more "clean" build because if you are I don´t think you should use a hood scoop. Something like this; http://www.ramairhood.com/photo_gallery/dodge/02-04_dodge_ram/bc001.jpg Take a look at this site (http://www.afxnscaleresin.150m.com/hood_scoops.htm) and let your imagination flow... http://www.afxnscaleresin.150m.com/images/Demon%20Scoop.jpg http://www.afxnscaleresin.150m.com/images/64%20Dodge%20Max%20Wedge%20Scoop.jpg I don´t know about you but I think something like that would look very nice. /Fredrik Jurva 12-31-2004, 05:07 AM I think that those colour could work. Throw some silver stripes to it. DukeMan 12-31-2004, 08:17 AM Some more inspiration can be found here. (http://www.stainlesssteelbrakes.com/vehicles/project/15/) My favorite: http://www.stainlesssteelbrakes.com/graphics/vehicles/44/0407tr_sound_01z.jpg Dirty Runner 12-31-2004, 09:27 AM Hey Drago, before you start a new project, how about you finish the pendant projects? :grinno: Can you remember of the Chevy 58 that you promised to be a stunning project, and it is parked on your desk? :iceslolan Regards and Happy New Year (for all people...from Brazil) :naughty: :naughty: :naughty: ataschner 01-03-2005, 08:34 AM Ram Weel, it s a pretty good work to lower this one, especially with the terrible chassis that comes with the kit. I'll build a new chassis with new "A" arms e all new suspension! ol' dude OK Man... I'm already providing the pictures and the text. Unhappily, the updatings will be a little slow, because I am with other projects in the desk! But, stay on! I'll put a new progress thread as soon it's possible! DukeMan Sorry, but, What is IMO? Thanks for the website and for the scoop idea, but i think i'll go with the clean style. And about the bed cover, I was thinking exactly about leaving without it, so the back suspension will show up. Something like this: http://www.alexandre.taschner.nom.br/Geral/0404tr_chevy05_z.jpg What you guys think about it? Dirty Runner My friend Outlaw, you're absolutely right! But that '56 Chevy (not 58) is drive me crazy! A lot of scratch... URGHHH!!!!!! So, i decided give us a break, you know... But, this one Silverado maybe bring me up the same problems! I hope not! I'm waiting for your great 2005 models! Don't take so long ok? A great 2005 for us man! And special thanks to all freinds that sent ideas and praises! DukeMan 01-03-2005, 09:28 AM Sorry, but, What is IMO? In My Opinion, I did´nt know either in the beginning, but I tell you it´s very useful! I´m sure that whatever you decide to do with you pickup it will look great! Keep up the progress! P.S What about having a open bedcover with hinges so that the suspension still can be seen? /Fredrik Bossolani 01-04-2005, 05:36 AM Yo man!!! One more insane project!!!! very low!!! We like it!!!! Ran 01-04-2005, 05:51 AM Ram Weel, it s a pretty good work to lower this one, especially with the terrible chassis that comes with the kit. I'll build a new chassis with new "A" arms e all new suspension! And about the bed cover, I was thinking exactly about leaving without it, so the back suspension will show up. Something like this: http://www.alexandre.taschner.nom.br/Geral/0404tr_chevy05_z.jpg What you guys think about it? Ok, thanks. I think the A suspention is mad, if it's the only way of lowering and showing off like that, build it.:bigthumb: GvEman 01-04-2005, 10:44 AM sounds like a intressting project! keep it up! ataschner 01-06-2005, 11:14 AM Hi guys! More few updatings: Well, first of all, this is the kit: http://www.alexandre.taschner.nom.br/Geral/Silverado/Silverado_02.jpg These are the Aoshima's rims that I'll use in this project, of course with some modifications in the rear wheels (to represent the double wheels system): http://www.alexandre.taschner.nom.br/Geral/Silverado/Silverado_03.jpg Here, the Corvette ZR1 engine that I want to put under de hood: http://www.alexandre.taschner.nom.br/Geral/Silverado/Silverado_04.jpg In the bucket, I demarcated (with tape) the area that should be cut off to accommodate the double wheels system: http://www.alexandre.taschner.nom.br/Geral/Silverado/Silverado_05.jpg http://www.alexandre.taschner.nom.br/Geral/Silverado/Silverado_06.jpg And the front wheels boxes already cut off http://www.alexandre.taschner.nom.br/Geral/Silverado/Silverado_07.jpg For now, that's all folks NOMADGAMER 01-07-2005, 01:21 AM looks like an insane project, i'l be following for sure. as far as the rear wheel deep-dish, where did you locate the 'dish' from? I liked a lot! Updatings: Well, I am concentrating on the inferior part of the kit, more precisely in how to accommodate the Corvette engine and the chassis as well. The pieces are not still totally ended. They lack to sand and to get right the edges. But only for tests, it's ok. Here, I made the hole in the console, so the gearbox can be fit: http://www.alexandre.taschner.nom.br/Geral/Silverado/Silverado_08.jpg The engine already positioned http://www.alexandre.taschner.nom.br/Geral/Silverado/Silverado_09.jpg Now, with styrene pieces, I am covering the floor holes. Here, under console http://www.alexandre.taschner.nom.br/Geral/Silverado/Silverado_10.jpg Here, the part under the back seat http://www.alexandre.taschner.nom.br/Geral/Silverado/Silverado_11.jpg and finally the new floor (acrylic shape) http://www.alexandre.taschner.nom.br/Geral/Silverado/Silverado_12.jpg Here, the frames. Left side photo = front. Right side photo = rear http://www.alexandre.taschner.nom.br/Geral/Silverado/Silverado_13.jpg Frames in the place http://www.alexandre.taschner.nom.br/Geral/Silverado/Silverado_14.jpg Test with the rear axis and the double wheels http://www.alexandre.taschner.nom.br/Geral/Silverado/Silverado_15.jpg Now, in the engine area, I sanded the firewall edges so the engine and other accessories could perfectly fit http://www.alexandre.taschner.nom.br/Geral/Silverado/Silverado_16.jpg That’s all folks! DJPaul 01-18-2005, 02:47 PM Looks great, keep it low :D Turbo Monster 01-18-2005, 04:33 PM it still isn't low enough you know. I'd give it another 3" drop bud. lol. You should get the cowl hood from the other pick-up kit-or make one. A cowl hood would look cool.
