Hit the door ligh switch 5 times really fast.

I have a 99 Frontier that the Air Bag Light is blinking also. As strange as this fix sounded, I tried this with no result.

Were you being serious with this or were you just being funny. I felt funny trying it.

Does anyone else have a fix for this besides a $70 trip to the dealership?

Thanks,
jpiiii :)

I havent had the problem yet but I know what to do, sorry it was a little more difficult than what I had said earlier.

Outstanding!!! It really worked. Thanks so much.

The first time I did it I did not wait for the light to blink down the 3 seconds 2 seconds etc. I waited long enough for it to do that and it worked!

Thanks Again,
J.P. :grinyes:

We are trying to put out the air bag light in a Nissan Navara in the UK. We have tried the method as described in this section, with no luck. The mechanic is feeling really silly now, any ideas. Does anyone know another fix and also where the sensors are.

I also have a 99 Nissan Frontier with the airbag light flashing. We tried the pushing of the door button 5 times, and it's still flashing. Is there a secret to it? Please let me know.

I Am Absolutely Sure This Is Correct: I Work At A Family-owned Nissan Dealership.
1- Put The Key In The Ignition And Turn To Acces-not On And Do Not Start The Car!
2-within 10 Sec Push The Door Switch 7 Times
3-watch The Airbag Light It Should Flash A Code In A Series Form. ----- Pause ----- And It Will Repeat.
(if You Aren't Sure How To Count The Code Just Reset It. If There Is A Serious Or Real Problem, It Will Come Right Back On When You Start The Car And It Will Remain On.)
4-now Turn Off The Car Remove The Key...now Put The Key Back In The Ignition And Start The Car. It Will Come On And Should Turn Off After About 8-10 Seconds.

2001 Frontier-reset Airbag Light.
1. Open Drivers Door.
2. Turn Key On Until Airbag Light Comes On.
3. Turn Key Off & Close Door.

2001 Frontier-get Air Bag Codes.
1. Open Drivers Door.
2. Turn Key On Until Air Bag Light Comes On-it Takes Approx. 7 Secs.
3. Turn Key Off & On Within 1 Sec. After Airbag Light Comes On.
4. Repeat This Three Times.
These Sequences Will Get You Somewhere.

IT does work! put the key to ON not start, before the air bag light has a chance to flash hit the door swith 7 times and wait, the air bag light should flash once pause flash once pause etc.. now turn the key off and remove it, quickly put the key back in and start, light will come on for a few seconds and shut off, if it doesnt work the first time try a few more time, if it still does not shut off or the flashing is irratic (this means there is a falt code"something wrong" ) take it to a mechanic or you can count the flashes and find out what the problem is...turn THE KEY ON NOT START again hit the door swicth 7 times before it has a chance to start flashing, it will then start to flash in a patern, excample...flash flash pause flash flash flash pause is 23 then call the deilership and ask the service tech what this code means, they will tell you the problem, go from there........good luck

Okay, I think I got my 98 Nissan Frontier to cough up the diag code. I did the 7 button salute and the Airbag light now does 1 long blink followed by 8 fast blinks. Am I right that this is a 18???

If so, then does anyone have access to the diag codes for this? If so could you PLEASE let me know what this is trying to tell me???

THANKS!

Just did the Nissan Frontier air bag light reset.. was aggrivating @ first! DO IT THIS WAY..
1.Sit in truck with door open
2.Put left hand on door switch
3.Put key in ignition and turn only till dash lights come on (DO NOT START) and IMMEDEATLY PUSH DOOR SWITCH 7 TIMES.
4.AIR BAG light will flash slow and stop.
5.Press door switch. Turn off key.

wait a moment just because... start truck... should be reset

I used to do it sitting in the truck/car ALL the time at the dealer.. I forgot and was going CRAZY! You have almost no time to hit the switch upon turning on the ignition.

NOTE: ignore any comments about where to click the key switch.. on, acc, etc. JUST TURN ON ONLY TILL DASH LIGHTS COME ON.
>>>NO STARTING<<<

On most vehicles, the airbag light should come on for @6 seconds, and then go off if the system is working properly. If there is a fault or a problem in the system, the light will remain illuminated, or flash continuously. If the airbag light does not work properly, some vehicles have an audible tone that sounds indicating a problem with the airbag light system. When the light is on (or the tone is sounding), the airbag will NOT deploy, even in an accident. Most systems can only be diagnosed using a scanner designed for the airbag system, however some use flash codes to indicate the problem. The scanners at Auto Zone or the ones that sell for @ $50 will not access the airbag system, only the engine systems (check engine light).
This website gives you the procedure for diagnosing and resetting some systems without a scanner. Some vehicle manufacturers accommodate that (like Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Infinity, Honda, Acura, Ford, Lincoln, Mazda & Mercury) and some require a scan tool. http://www.airbagsolutions.com/
Check out these websites also for more info on airbag systems and the light.

Ok, Here is my experience with my 99 Frontier. The FIRST time it happened (at around 100K), and the 7 blinks with the door switch method previously described, worked. The SECOND time, this method did not work. Then I noticed that the airbag light was blinking the 8 blink code for the passenger air bag. So I took the 4 screws out of the top of the glove box and sure enough the airbag conector was no longer connected. I connected it, and tried the 7 blinks with the door switch several times, but it did not work. So thinking I needed to clear the 8 code, I blinked the door switch 8 times, and this caused a slowing of the air bag light, and no 8 code. I turned off the key, THEN I tried the 7 blinks on the door fix, and it finally stopped! :)

turn the ignition on then off when the light comes on. do this 5 times. it'll reset it. I have a 2004 XE and it worked. started flashing when I was working on my stereo and I had to disconnect the connector to the airbag light.
