difference bwt KA24E and KA24DEH1PH0P 12-28-2004, 09:26 PM Is the engine really that much of a difference. I know the 89-90 have the KA24E and the 91+ have KA24DE. Well, my question is, is there really that big of a difference between cars. I plan on getting one as a daily driver. And maybe a little bit of mods here and there. I looked thru the classifields and 89-90 240sx are all over the price, and a lot cheaper then the later models. Thanks Hit_N_Run-player 12-28-2004, 09:43 PM from 91 to 93 they had the KA24DE which is a dual over head cam engine (DOHC). Which means it has one cam for the intake, and one for exhaust so you can control the timing of each differently. The 89-90 models had the KA24E, which is a single over head cam engine. This engines one camshaft controls the intake and exhaust. KA-engine 24- means its 2.4L D- dual overhead cam E- Electronicly fuel injected KA-engine 24- means its 2.4L (no d for dual over head cam, so its single cam. E- Electronicly fuel injected logik23 12-28-2004, 10:35 PM I thought the E was for Engine. :-P sidewayzS13 12-28-2004, 11:14 PM ka24de=155hp ka24e=145hp H1PH0P 12-28-2004, 11:33 PM does the extra 10hp make THAT much of a difference, or is it just something good to have? SR20DETpower 12-28-2004, 11:33 PM they both are ok... if your going to run a turbo id run the DOHC though, because the SOHC spark plugs and wires go into the side of the block in between the exhaust ports where as the DOHC spark plugs are on top of the head.. burnt spark plug wires are a bitch!!!! zdude 12-28-2004, 11:55 PM they both are ok... if your going to run a turbo id run the DOHC though, because the SOHC spark plugs and wires go into the side of the block in between the exhaust ports where as the DOHC spark plugs are on top of the head.. burnt spark plug wires are a bitch!!!! iirc, i always thought the lower compression of the ka24e was better for the turbo... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
