95 Blazer ABS light on, bad brakes?96Green 12-26-2004, 09:52 AM Hey Guys, I've got a 95 4x4 blazer. Yesterday when braking on a dry road the brake pedal was really hard to push and then the anti-locks started going off when I was almost to a stop. I wasn't going very fast, probably under 20 MPH. I saw in another thread someone had a similar problem and someone suggested cleaning the ABS sensors or resetting the computer. Where are the sensors located? How can the computer be reset? Is this something a mechanic will need to do or can I reset it myself? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! rlith 12-27-2004, 08:01 AM The sensors are on each wheel up front (bolted to the dust plate) simply pull your discs and brush them out. On the back they are in the drums. To reset the computer, simply disconnect the positive power cable, touch it to the negative cable and wait 5 mins... Fireplug 12-27-2004, 12:28 PM Never disconnect posi battert cable first rlith 12-27-2004, 12:39 PM Doesn't hurt anything... Also nothing wrong with touching the positive cable to the negative terminal. It simply drains the capacitors... Remember, once you pull the positive cable, there is no more power outside of those capacitors in the ECM and elsewhere... So there isn't a chance of shorting anything. Fireplug 12-27-2004, 12:42 PM By doing what you say and removing the posi battery cable first you are causing the posi cable to arc to the battery and that will send a voltage spike to tne ecm and could eat it. Any Auto tech knows you NEVER remove the posi battery cable first vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
