94 lumina Z34 3.4 Pwr Steering fluid leaknymorey 12-25-2004, 05:27 PM My son's car has a leak from the power steering hose located in the back of the engine. I can see where it connects to the rack and where the leak is occuring but It's too tight to ge to. Is there a trick to working on it or does the engine have to be lifted out to get to it. I heard you can "rock" it forward. True? jeffcoslacker 12-26-2004, 09:39 AM The two front mounts that connect the engine to the radiator core support can be removed, then the motor is free to rock on the remaing mounts. You can use a ratcheting tie down to pull it forward, or rock the car in park to make the engine roll, then lock the e-brake down when the motor pitches forward. Be sure to block the wheels if you do it this way, if the car moves, the motor will drop. nymorey 12-26-2004, 03:32 PM Sounds good. I will give it a try. Is there anything I need to disconnect before I roll the engine forward? jeffcoslacker 12-27-2004, 08:02 AM No, just make damn sure you put the mounts back together before you run it. I know it sounds stupid, but I had a friend who got so happy 'cuz he changed his own plugs he forgot to do this, and when he shifted into gear the motor rolled hard into the radiator. New radiator time. nymorey 12-27-2004, 07:24 PM Yikes! That would suck! I'll make sure I do that. Thanks a bunch for your help. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
