Hi to all of you! I have 2003 rsx all stock. I had to replace my battery and when I did my cd player started to display CODE. I can't find the code card, so can anybody help me out?

It should be in the leather portfolio that came with your car. Its about twice the size of a credit card.

I have looked through everything and I can't find it anywhere. I mean my whole portfolio is missing I think it got lost when I moved. Does anybody know where I can get the code. I went to the dealership and they said they would charge me $85. Is there another place I can get it for less or possible for free.

Nope. You have to go through your dealer.

Yeah I guess I will go to the dealer after all. My friend had the same problem with his Honda so he went to the dealer and got the code for free, its just depends on the dealers customer service. Well I hope I get the same deal. Thanks all of you for your advice.

Is there only one dealer? Maybe you can try asking other members of the service dept? Or talk to your salesman and see if s/he can help you out with the price?

No there are actually three dealerships not far around. I only tried one. I already called the previous owner he said he doesn't know the code. But I'll go out to all three dealers and maybe get a deal from them. You can nagotiate with a dealer about stuff like this, right?

If I remeber correctly, when I picked the car up, my saleswoman explained the whole code thing and gave me the card. She gave me the impression that, if I should ever lose it, I could just call up and she'd give it to me. I don't remember any talk about a charge. Maybe it's due to the fact you bought from a private party?

For me I was told "everything's in this portfolio and if you lose something, call", so i'm also under the impression it'd be a minimal charge or free, probably the latter judging by my past experiences with my dealer's service dept.

I think the dealer is just trying to milk you......

I'd get it for free because I'm so goddamned charming and handsome...like Clay Aiken.

... I went to the dealership and they said they would charge me $85. ...
That's some bullsh*t "Luxury" dealership.
Contact Honda customer service directly with your V.I.N. and an explanation.

Why did the battery die so quickly after only a few years?

I actually don't know why the battery died so quickly. My car has only 6,XXX miles on it. Like a week after I bought it, it wouldn't start so I went out bought a new battery put it in. The car started but my cd player stopped working. I called the previous owner and asked him at what dealership he got the car so I went there had a talk with the salesman, at first he said that he would charge me $85 but then I turned around and started to walk so after a bit of talking he dropped it to $25. I got the code, driving without music is just horrible. Thanks for your advice.

I work for acura and you have two options to get the code. You can either go to the fealer where the car was sold, and they can look it up on file for free, or you can take it to any acura dealership and they have to get the serial number off the radio and look up the code. Thats why they charge you money, we actually have to take the radio out sometimes to get the serial number to then get the code. If you can get me the serial number, i can get you the code....i,m not supoesed to, but i'll hook you up since your in a fix.

Will my VIN work? Because I tried to take the cd player out and just scratched up all of my dashboard around it. Thanx for your help.

Sorry, but the only way to retrieve it is by the serial number on the actual radio. As i remember correctly, the Radio in the RSX "is" a real pain to get out....the easiest way once you get all the screws out is to pry it from behind through a slot at the left side of the glove box. (you have to drop the box)

so I had the same problem with my battery dying...leaving your lights on overnight is never a good idea...and was dreading paying the 50 something dollars needed to get the VIN off the back of my cd player. Went to the dealership, told them my problem, and had it fixed in about 3 seconds. The code for my cd player was located on the outside of the glove compartment when you open it up. That easy...
