Okay guys well heres whats wrong. Eariler i drove my car and left my lights on and the battery went dead. When i went out side which was about half n hour ago i had to jump it and had it running. NOW... the confusing part, my system doesnt want to work. When i first jumped the car nothing for the system came on, not even the capcitor(spelling)...so i turned it off and turned it back on...and the cap. came on...but is flashing 0.00, and also the amp isnt coming on.

now i checked the fuse under the dash, the ones on the amp, and the main one in the engine bay and everything is fine...i dont know what could be wrong...any help would be nice

THANKS!

If I had to guess without knowing more or seeing it. I'd say you probably bumped something when you jumped it. When you clipped the clamps for the jumper cables you may have moved something which is giving it bad or no connectiong. Just my guess though.

i am completely lost...i have no idea what it could be...

and also something else i thought was weird...i turned my key and nothing happened at ALL...but that was probably because the battery was completely dead...

i dunno...

when my battery died, the stock head unit did the stupid security lock, but i don't the older civic's had that. i doubt the power surge messed anything up... but thats always why i bump start my car if it dies.

bump start? I have never heard of that, how's that work. Is it like push start, or do I sound like an idiot for even asking that?

This may be a long shot but one time I accidentally killed my batter by leaving the interior light on. I jump started the car, drove it home, (about 10-15 miles) and then shut it off. I tried to start it up again not five minutes later and it would not start. The battery was basically still dead as the alt. did not charge it back up. I took out my battery and put it on the charger over night then everything was fine the next day.

To make a long story short, maybe your battery is not charged enough to be within the amps power range...?

oh, I didn't know that works in a car. I guess in a stick shift it's possible. I would have never thought of that though.

It works assuming the battery is not TOTALLY dead. You need to have a tiny bit of power left for the ECU, fuel pump, etc. But yeah, I have done a bump start once or twice...

USE A MULTIMETER. trace ur power and ground wires from whatever isnt working testing them at different points. Is your amp turning on, how bout your cap? do u have power at the front of the fuse? how about the back? cylandrical glass fuses can "blow from the ends" which is when the fuse looks ok but actually at the ends where u can see the fuse is blown. with ur multipmeter u can check all of these things make it ur new best friend with electrical issues.

I second the motion for a multimeter... check all the cables.. check the fuses..

I cant say what you did without looking at it but here is some info. Always pull your main audio fuse when jump starting your car. I watched a couple of people blow amps this way
