OK, My daytime running lights are not working. Headlights work, but are manual only. Is there some way to fix this. I figure I did something that changed the settings on the computer. I worked fine until yesterday.

99 2500 4x4. Hope someone can help.

Also, A section of lights have gone out on the radio controls on the truck. The preset number 2 and 4 lights are out, the seek arrow lights are out, and the light on the bottom far right is out. (can't remember what it is right now) Any ideas?

I guess that will be my next try. Can the relay go bad on the DRL's?

This may be a stupid question, but if you didn't buy the truck new, did you check to see if the bulbs are still there?

Some people for some reason have a phobia about DRLs and all they want to do is put them out. I have run into trucks with the wires to the DRLs cut and also some have had the light bulbs removed.

If you just got the truck, check the simple stuff first, no use in making it any harder than it is.

Good luck!!

Check the lighting control panel. Daytime lights didn't work and neither did ANY of the interior lights. Ohmed the control panel out and the dimmer was shorted out.

Daytime running light blow big donkey #&$@, people like me yank the damn fuse, check the fuse if you want them. If that ain't it, who cares?

I Disagree I quite like the look of the DRL's on these trucks. In fact I changed my DRL's to bright Orange so the whole bottom row (below the headlights) is orange.

As for the lights in your CD player, it's a common problem in these units. I tried to take my unit apart to fix it and it resulted in burning more of the lights out. Even if you get the unit apart apparently the bulbs in there are hard to come by and aren't that common. :(

I appreciate all the help. The DRL's are not that big of a deal, after all I don't see them when I am driving anyway. I am just the type of person that likes to have everything working the way it should. The radio lights are a real PIA for me though. Every time I drive at night it just annoys the hell out of me. I guess the dealership may be able to help. Or I could try to find one in a junkyard that worked and switch it out. Guess I will have to call teh dealership next on that one.

thanks guys

have you tried cycling the manual override button 3-4 times to see if they are off?

Depends how good you are with a soldering iron and working on electronics.... I have a 98 Silverado and the lights in my radio kept burning out one-by-one. I finally went to Radio Shack and purchase 8 or 9 miniture 12 volt light bulbs. I then took the radio out and pulled the front cover off. After unscrewing the circuit board from the front cover you can see all the miniture light bulbs. One at a time I un-soldered the light bulbs, measured the resistance to see if it was bad or not, and re-soldered in the new bulbs. It a little time consuming but at $1.39 per bulb it was definately a lot cheaper than buying a new radio. You might see if the TheftLock is activated on the radio before unplugging the radio from the truck. It's a security feature that requires a secret code if the radio is unplugged. If you don't know the code you could be SOL.
