You can use your Si ecu, but you have to get an rpm window switch or a VAFC to activate your vtec. Just get a b18 :icon16:

i'm not realy ready to try a b18 yet i have ony done big work on my 98 mitsu turbo, with a 1stgen now. so i don't think i wanna go that way yet. just something a little easy for my first time (be gental)

you get an rpm activated switch, you can get a msd from summit racing. that is generally what people do when they don't get the VAFC as quiXilver mentioned

or you could get the p28 ecu out of a 92-95 si/ex...but that is a little more money and i have to assume you are trying to go the cheaper route. generally people building mini-me's are trying to save money

yeah cheep you got me. i don't want to spend alot but i wan it for fun. i got the car from this kid for ummm hehe $50.00. yeah was an ass. he said he wanted to work on his fierbird :loser:
but i know no matter what i do to that civic other them h22 turbo i will never be as fast as me 98 mitsu fully built. so i want a car for fun somthing that can go. it has no int and it's auto, so i have to do all that before i can even put the new motor in. i got the si motor with tranny ecu everything fro a noz kit that i traded. and another thing would be i just want to do it all my self, i don't think i could do a b16 or b18 i am not that good with the hole wireing thing. so start little. but i do plan on building the motor up before i put it in. i will port and polish the head skunk2cam things like that. i like making somthing out of nothing

LADYNRED YOU WAS ON A DIF FOROM A LONG TIME AGO LIKE 4 OR 5 YRS WHAT EVER HAPPEND TO MARK00 I THINK THAT WAS HIS NAME.

don't get me wrong, i wasn't trying to call you cheap. as you mentioned, i've been around a long time. anytime somebody is asked "why a mini-me and not a z6 or y8" the answer is ALWAYS something about money

marked001 is a moderator here, he lurks in the civic/crx forum even tho he has an audi. shhhhhhhh! don't say his name or he might pop up from the shadows :uhoh:

my name on that forom was chrisB i don't know if you remeber me or not. i kinda got out of the hole 4gen, and got an integ and mitsu, but now i am back.

yes the green si was stolen before he got the wiring figured out :thumbsdow he has an audi now. i think he just hangs out here so he can ban people :spit:

If you get the p28 ecu, you have to do the obd-0 to obd-1 conversion. The VAFC or the rpm window switch is much easier and cheaper since you're cheap :icon16: jk

but is there a place i can send the ecu to have v-tec put in?

i'm cheap because that damn mitsu, never ever.......ever, ever, ever buy one never!!!:slap:

if that were the case nobody would bother with the switch or p2 ecu.

i'm not sure what you know or don't know about vtec. i don't want to lecture you on stuff you know....you know?

your ecu doesn't know vtec exists. it doesn't comprehend. vtec is activated when you hit a pre-determined rpm. so either you add the switch which tells your ecu when you reach that determined rpm OR you buy the ecu that comprehends vtec.

here are 4 links that explaine what is vtec and how it works

i just thought of something. now the civic is a dx auto, i have a si that i wanna use with man tranny, i have si ecu. i don't need to worry about the hole park and nutral thing do i? i will switch it from auto to stick and use the si ecu witch was stick aswell.

i thought i saw it some where that they said they can do that some z place, can't remeber the sit it's a how-to for doing the mini me, it's a honda site o well vafc it is, i herd you can burn the vtec out with a switch.

i'm not sure if i understood that. what i got was your dx civic is AT and you are using si MT ecu & tranny.

if that is correct then you need to do an AT to MT conversion. you need foot pedals, linkage, axles, rear motor mount (possibly the front as well)...we have never actually tried the conversion. i'm trying to remember off info i collected when we considered converting one of our cars we sold instead. basically what i was getting at is there are more parts you'll need to rob off that si. you could do a search within this forum and find more info

i herd you can burn the vtec out with a switch.

you heard correctly

i have every thing i need from the si tranny, mounts and all i was just saying when i was reading this AT to MT conv they where saying they could not get the car started because it has to be in park. i was thinking they where still useing a AT tranny. so thats cool all i need now is the foot pedals and i am set.

how much for the vafc? i might get that from you.

you can send your ecu to edyne i think it is and they can rechip and send a wire out of the ecu for vtec...

ha ha ha i found it, here is where you can send the ecu off for vtec.

Zdyne.
You send them a stock CRX ecu and they reprogram it. There are several options here.
Cheapest is their One Wire Conversion. They basically just put a vtec feature on. This is a good option because it doesn't rely on any piggyback units to activate the vtec. The bad is that it's not an adjustable unit so you will need something like an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to lean or richen the fuel mixture.
The most expensive is the Gold Secu. It's fully adjustable. You can change fuel AND timing, move vtec activation, control NOS or boost etc. Very nice but prohibitively expensive if you're on a tight budget. A good investment if you plan on keeping the car or changing your setup in the future. It pretty much does it all.

i do know that there is a way to activate vtec using an auto ecu. its been called a one-wire vtec. i think it uses a ps9 ecu but not sure. look on homemadeturbo.com or pgmfi.com dont remember where i read about it.
