I have a 1998 Ram 1500 5.9. For the past week it has been running colder and colder. I already changed the thermostat (192), which did not help. My fan clutch feels loose. Could the fan clutch be the problem? Please help it is in the single digits, in IL. LOL

Is the engine not getting up to operating temp, or are you just not getting any heat.
Fan clutch can be tightened with an open end wrench.

Both... It doesn't get up to normal running temp and I get very little heat from the vents. I do get more heat from the vents if the engine temp is higher.
Thank you.
Thank you.

It's like the thermostat is stuck open or what?

It sounds to me like a thermostat. If you just put a new one in, it's either faulty, or maybe it's installed backwards, or maybe it's the wrong valsu (temp). If I'm not mistaking, you need about a 195º 'stat. If you installed a 165º, you won't get to operating temp.
I know it's a pain in the ass, but you might want to verify the thermostat again.

This may sound Stupid, but are you giving it a chance to warm up? Or are you just taking off right when you start it up....
