There is a strange clicking noise coming from where the driveshaft connects to the transfer case on my 2000 Z71 with the 5.3. It increases as I accelerate and disappears when I decelerate...and does not do it at all when revving the engine in neutral. There is no difference in how the truck shifts and drives...just the annoying noise.

Any ideas what this could be?? I am at 128,000 miles and have still have not had a single problem with the truck...i hope my luck hasn't run out! Thanks.

U-joints lose or worn out. Could also be missing a few needle bearings in the bearing caps. Either way time to replace.
