help my 92 jetta wont run in the coldjiveturkey32 12-21-2004, 02:42 PM my jetta runs great all summer but then when winter hits, its a different story. the car will start and run fine until it gets into the 20's. colder than that and it will start but you can't give it gas or it dies. sometimes you will get lucky and it will run fine for a while and then all of a sudden it will lose power and start jerking. it has been a frustrating problem. ANY ideas would be great. thank you enorad 12-29-2004, 11:57 AM my jetta runs great all summer but then when winter hits, its a different story. the car will start and run fine until it gets into the 20's. colder than that and it will start but you can't give it gas or it dies. sometimes you will get lucky and it will run fine for a while and then all of a sudden it will lose power and start jerking. it has been a frustrating problem. ANY ideas would be great. thank you I have the same problem with my car that I just brought from a friend. She had taken the car to several mechanics and she has been told that the problem comes from water condensation in the gas tank (something to do with the gas tank not being insulated or such properly). Anyway, she has been adding a gas treatment (that removes water) to every tank of gas once the weather starts to get cooler (around freezing). I have been told that should work but if you do not add the treatment in time you might not see improvements untill you run the second tank of gas with the treatment. If you find a better solution I let me know. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
