Old thread, but here it is anyway.

Had a 951. Several electrical problems occured.

1. Cooling fan switch had a bad relay that leaked current and drained battery frequently.

2. Warning buzzer switch must have popped some solder joints inside. Intermittent failure.
New switch about $150.

3. "Sunroof in place" sensor in center of front of sunroof cutout in roof failed. System
could not detect when the sunroof was in place. Hence operation of the sunroof was wacky
when opening, closing, or removing the sunroof.

4. Occasionally the head lights would not close when turned off. Knocking on them did the
trick. I believe this problem is indicative of bad brushes. (I've seen a 914 with similar problems
fixed by replacing the condicting copper brushes somewhere inside the headlight mechanisms).

Why do you ask?

I have not had a problem besides the DME relay and I took it out and fixed it on my own lol. The car starts now lol.

Thanks for so many details.
Obviously I got ignition problems. It happens sometimes but not always. Sometimes I can start the engine, and sometimes not. And it happenned that the engine stoped on the highway (110 mph!) and re-ignite himself after a few seconds. We chekked all the electrical connections (ignition, relays, fuel pump) and changed the DME relay. After that I had no problem during at least 3 weeks of everyday use, and than once again the same crap. I even have disconnected the alarm to be sure the problem wasn't there. I've been told that the last possibility would be the electronical injection box to replace, but as far as the cost would be about 52.000 belgian francs (1.700 us$) I'd prefer to be sure the problem is there and not spend money to realize the problem was somewhere else! (As far as it seems to be realy difficult to find the box in second hand (lot of differences and no compatibility of course!))

Thank you all

Problem not solved! I had other priorities (divorce wife, kid to grow up, ...) so my 944 is freezed in the garage for a couple of month.
I'll give news in the next future when all will be fixed (or completely fucked up). Thank U all.

Ouch!

Good luck with all your problems. Will be around when you get back to working on the 944. Need more info like: year, engine (turbo or non-turbo)...stuff like that.
But get your life together first...we'll wait.

Why would anyone in their right mind leave the Porsche world? :)

Say, anyone know of any good suppliers for 944 body kits? I need some new fenders, and one of those nice Strosek hatches.

I've already been to
www.allporsche.com
www.acespeed.com
infinity fiberworks
gt racing
and all sorts more

An interesting note, the 924 used CIS, so did the 931. The 924 had pretty basic wiring, but the 931 had some wiring troubles. The 944s use Motronic, so I'm not too familiar with the wiring.

I've been to Pro 9s site.. Wasn't that impressed. I think I like GT racing the best.

I'm not impresed by it either... as for parts (not only aero parts , all the parts) i go to www.v-zweeden.com ... they're unbeatable when it comes to stock of parts IMO... they have everything... parts that are no longer produced etc things....

I think www.gt-racing.com is the best, they have everything anybody else offers, except for the strosek hatch... Know of any other good body kit sources?

Mine is from www.allporsche.com, and it's a horrible kit. It was almost free though, so I can't complain.

In any case, I just ordered a new Motronic as far as it seemed to be impossible to say what was wrong! Hope problems won't show up again later!!! I went on the Kevin Gross site, and he wasn't sure neither... Well, I just keep my fingers crossed...
