I have a 98 intrepid and interior blower wont stoproncarter002 12-20-2004, 06:02 PM I have a 98 intrepid and 2 things happened at the same time... 1. The blower wont turn off- I've pulled and replaced the appropriate fuses....nothing doing....when I i turn the blower off from the dashboard...it blows harder...the heat and coolimng section of the ATC seems to be working fine as it varies in temperature when I adjust it manually from 80 degress or more down to 67 degrees. Is there a relay or a circuit board that may need to be replaced? 2. After running for an hour or so....the engine will be come unsettled runing rough- and seeming like it wants to stall out., or if ive stopped and prepare to lave ...after driving for a while..it wont start..it will crank quite strong...but its almost like there is no gas getting to the engine. Ill have to wait for 10 minutes or so...then restart it..it will run rough, but then it slowly smooths out. What could be the cause of this? i just recently returnd from a trip where it was -15 degrees for the entire weekend and these problems occurred similtaneously. Are ther interlinked or connected? What cna I do to fix them....Im boggled and broke...the dealership just nailed me for a TRANNY REPAIR and TIE RODS....I need help!..PLEASE!!! theFREAKnasty82 12-20-2004, 11:12 PM The blower motor thing.........since you have the ATC, chances are you have a bad unit; they aren't cheap, they run between $500-$800. The occasional stalling; there are many possible options; clogged air filter, clogged fuel filter, weak fuel pump or even a faulty torque converter clutch inside the transmission. A. If that is the case, there is a cross-short and the blower is picking up power from another source/circuit. QUOTE] I do not know the link between this and the tranny....Unless you have a positive defect with the tranny, wait and see. Are you able to have someone retreive the codes? This is first thing to do. YOu may have a problem with the O2 sensor. When cold, the computer that controls injection and fuel mixture runs on default "open loop" values, but as soon as warm, the closed loop operation turns on and the O2 sensor is the key part in this loop, hence...... theFREAKnasty82 12-25-2004, 06:39 PM If you can, there is a way to obtain trouble codes from your ATC. Here's the steps: 1. Set temperature to 75 degrees and push and hold the Floor, Mix & Defrost buttons all at the same time until the display section blinks then release the buttons. 2. The control display will continue to blink and then show two-digit trouble codes, if any are present. The codes range from 23 to 51. 3. Only one code can be displayed at a time, but pressing and releasing the Panel button will display the next code, if present. The code numbers are as follows: 23- Blend door actuator feedback failure 24- Mode door actuator feedback failure 25- Ambient sensor 26- ATC in-car temperature sensor thermister failure 27- ATC in-car sensor failure 31- Recirculation door actuator stall failure 32- Blend door actuator stall failure 33- Mode door actuator stall failure 34- Engine temperature message not received 35- Evaporator sensor failure 36- ATC control communication failure 37- Blend door actuator output shorted to battery 38- Blend door actuator output shorted to ground 39- Mode door actuator output shorted to battery 40- Mode door actuator output shorted to ground 41- Recirc door actuator output shorted to battery 42- Recirc door actuator output shorted to ground 43- Common door output shorted to battery 44- Common door output shorted to ground 45- A/C control blend door input open or shorted to ground 46- A/C control blend door shorted to battery 47- A/C control- A/C switch failure 48- A/C control mode door input shorted to ground 49- A/C control mode door input shorted to battery 50- A/C control electric backlite switch failure 51- System voltage too low for door calibration roncarter002 12-25-2004, 09:08 PM [QUOTE=roncarter002]I have a 98 intrepid and 2 things happened at the same time... 1. I replaced the fuse just in case and it still acts in the same manner. The blower does not adjust or vary its speed except when turned off, then it speeds up and blows harder. I am able to set the temperature gauge and it wiil heat or cool.. but the blower...will work on 2 speeds it seems like...Fast..... and...Oh My goodness fast! AWP9521 12-25-2004, 10:06 PM It is possible that the Blower Power Module is faulty, vehicles that have the ATC option have a 14 speed blower power module instead of a resistor pack controlling the fan speeds. This module is controlled by the Body Control Module and regulates the fan from the ATC settings and information from the In-Car Ambient Temperature Sensor. It's possible the blower power module may be bad. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
