95 Lumina 3.4jack55 12-20-2004, 03:13 PM PLEASE Help! Cold eng. start. Fires then jumps to 3k rpm then chokes down. If I put in gear I can keep it running, but rough & missing. Once normal operating temp. reached runs great all day till next morning. Have done the following: New plugs & wires, IAC sensor, TPS, no different. Now it is suggested the CamShaft Position sensor. Is it worth another $100 for a maybe fix? Thanks for any help!! P.S. I have had this problem for many months. SES light will come on after about 3 miles, then goes off after another 3 or 4 mi.. thehood 12-22-2004, 03:21 PM :banghead: Good Luck! I also am having idle problems with 95 3.4l. I made a post back in September and there doesn't seem to be a lot of information on this engine. I hope you find the information you need because I could possible use this information also. My Lumina does not run good enough to sell, unless I want junk price. jack55 12-22-2004, 03:33 PM Thank's for the response. I'm about at the same point you are! Car was fine till I hit 65k miles. Down hill ever since. What really mistifies me is once engine warms up it purrs like a kitten. Oh well,,, Merry Christmas to you. sirWade 12-24-2004, 12:20 AM I had a 93 3.4 with high idle then choke off, then stay at high idle. all sorts of messed up.The idle control motor was trying to make up for a vacumm leak. It turns out that when the gaskets get old, the rubber on them gets hard, when the car warms up the rubber swell and closes the vacumm leak. I did nothing but change intake gaskets, about a 6 hour job with total cost for gasket $19.95. Then it ran like a new car. jack55 12-24-2004, 05:43 PM Thank's sirWade, you think scratch the CPS senor idea? Fireplug 12-27-2004, 02:15 PM have your coolant temp sensor checked. If it reading a warm engine when if fact its cold it will act up just as you say yors does jack55 12-27-2004, 02:52 PM Good thought, sounds reasonable and maybe cheap. I'll check out where it is and if I can do it. Thanks. jt vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
