I was wondering what was the best way to get more HP from my lancer. I keep seeing these micro chips, do they really work? They say it will increase HP up tp 20HP. I was just looking for an opinion on what the best options are. I know this car is not a speed racer, I just wanted a little more umph.

ps. I posted this in the wrong forum earlier, i think. :uhoh:

I am not really sure, about 200-300 dollars, but I do not know if that will even allow me any options, I really need an overall opinion of what is my best option for the $ spent.

the chips you see on ebay are a scam, they only make your car get worse gas mileage.

If you want a noticable upgrade, I suggest an intake.

ya go with a cai or sai , downpipe,21/4 or 21/2 exhaust pipe and muffler, and maybe a piggyback. probably for about 1000 dollars you'll get 20-30hp.

Yea, do the basics. Intake, exhaust, and try looking at pulleys.

what is a pulley? what will it do for my car?

it reduces parasitic loss from your engine accessories, basically it makes the engine feel like it's revving free-er.

Yea, they are lighter than your stock crank, and altenator pulleys. So, the less weight your engine has to push, the easier it would be to move, which means more HP for you.

A buddy of mine has an '03 OZ lancer and he added headers he got from e-bay............it makes it sound more ballsy, and it does add a descent amount of power (maybe 5-7HPs?) on the higher RPMs

you have got to be kidding right, Even with headers he is still slower than a stock gs/rs he has alot of ground to make up 30hp is alot from a na motor.

the best way to get more hp out of your oz is to go trade it abck in for an evo.

O, im not saying my homies lancer is fast or anything, at best you could call it an loud family car. I was saying for reference sake, what the headers did for it. Its no comparison/replacement for a 2GNT eclipse.

secret to more power- let your engine inhale and exhale some cool fresh air. the better it breathes the more it performs.

you can make the lancer peppy, but without turbo or supercharger, there isn't just a whole lot of power to be had :disappoin
