This proved to me exactly what I thought about the EVO8. It is a car I would love to have, but not something I would drive everyday. It would be my built up track champ, and weekend street racer.

Please don't posts if you have no idea what you are talking about. As much as i like the EVO the Enzo is far far out of its league. Alow me to demonstrate the FQ400 posted a time of 1:24.8 while the Enzo posted a 1:19.0 that it is almost 5 seconds on a short track.


The Enzo disguised as a MC12 is winning LeMans races, do you think the evo ever could do that in its class? Enzo is a supercar from the ground up, mid engine, carbon fiber tub, pusrod suspension etc...The evo is a heavily upgraded econocar.

And the reason it beats many supercars in the 0-60 rage is because it has better traction off the line.

Also it must be noted that amoung the supercars the Murci is among the slowest. Carrera GT and Enzo are far out of its league.

GritMaster, I believe he was refereing to the FQ400, not the regular EVOs that we get over here, all those damned pansy ass sub 300s. If Mitsu really wants to compete in the market that the STi has cornered, I think they should start sending over the FQs. Sport COmpact Car did a great article, though, comparing the 300 and the STi Spec C, and they liked the STi better...I still would rather have teh EVO though...so much prettier.

That was a good vid, another Top Gear video for my collection. However, I have to comment on the little test with the Fiat. While Clarkson is quite witty he has no idea what goes on inside the engine of a car. The Fiat, being N/A, most likely has a higher compression ratio than the Evo. Also, who in their right mind is going to be going 30 in overdrive? The highest gear I would be doing 30 in is third. So since the car is out of boost in overdrive, of course it is going to take it until the second coming for the turbo to spool up. Also, what kind of idiot would try to overtake at 30 in overdrive? Most people have a brain and down shift when passing.

And? If I was a millionaire, I'd pick a lambo any day over an EVO. Those NBA players don't care about street racing. I agree that they only buy them to look "cool" but if I had the money for a Lamborghini, first off, I wouldn't even worry about losing to Evos or 11 second Sti's, mustangs or 99% of everything else.

But that damn euro guy "oh lets take a 2.0l engine with a massive turbo tuned for high RPM hp running a sub 8.5:1 compression ratio and race it in overdrive with the RPM's sitting (most likely) below 1,500 and expect it to beat a 2.0l+ at least 9:1 compression fiat in over drive with the fiat sitting probably round 2,000 and see who wins. What? the fiat did. well now that we have out manuvered a Lambi lets bash it with out stupid tests.
as far as 4mpg? well yes if you drive like they did on the steet all of the time.

Well for 80k i can buy a lotus Elise, put 20k into some modifications. and the rest will go for insurance and gas for the next few years. That is what i would like to see. an Elise v. Evo 8. Evo would probably have it except for in the high speed corners where the elise's mid engine balence would out handle the Evo's front engine design.

That would be a sweet race Elise vs Evo. I want an Elise so bad. There MSRP is only around 30k right?

40k USD. Fulle equipted sport package and all with out any special paint color its like 44-45k. Not to shabby for such a sexy car and such great performance.
But like i said. The Evo VIII they tested in that video would eat an Elise up. It has almost a full seconds better acceleratio nand the Elise's top speed is right around 150mph where as the Evo is in to the 170's. The Elise, however. would have the Evo in the fast twisties because of its Mid Engine Balence and short wheelbase. But the Elise is deffanitly more than half the car of a 400hp Evo VIII at only half the price.

Id like to see an elise vs. evo8 also...Not many people like the elise, personally I do. At least a comparison for car for price.

There is also the feeling a car gives you. Something less tangible, something more subjective that can't be measured like price or horsepower.

Would you rather have a Ferrari or a Mitsubishi? The racing pedigree of a Ferrari or Lambo or Lotus is so rich and the brands are so exotic, there's something to be said for them, even if they can (or can't) be beaten by some cheap Asian or American car.

I'd take the shittiest Ferrari ever (in my opinion either the non-turbo 208 or the Mondial) over any new Mitsubishi, Subaru, Honda, Nissan or Toyota just because its a Ferrari.

Although more efficient, more reliable, cheaper and in most ways better, Japanese cars are painfully ordinary and emotionless COMPARED to a Ferrari or Lambo. But more they're more practical and sensible!

Don't get me wrong - I'm not putting down Japanese cars. But how many of us own Lambos or Lotuses? Now THAT would be the shit.
