94 Escort GT - How to change the timing belt94GTscort 12-18-2004, 05:26 PM I have 1994 Escort GT 1.8L DOHC and I am hoping someone can guide me on how to replace my timing belt (and also other 2 belts along the way). My car died on me at a stop sign one day. I checked my ignition system, fuel system, and they are working fine. I followed one of the person's suggestion in another thread and checked my timing belt. It wasnt turning so I am assuming that the belt is worn out and need to be replaced. I don't consider myself skilled, but I have done some work on this escort, such as replacing the brake calipers. Do you think I could do it myself? Because chilton's manual do not cover the timing belt, it will be really greatful if you can make the steps as detailed as possible. Thank you in advance. 94GTscort 12-20-2004, 06:14 PM I feel dumb, but actually I found the timing belt instruction in the manual. I was able to take everything off EXCEPT the crankshaft pulley hub. Does anyone know how to remove this? jdking101674 12-22-2004, 08:11 PM If Remember correct its a 10mm socket and there are like 4 or 5 bolts. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
