Grand Am Turbo or Supercharger?soundagent 51 12-17-2004, 03:06 PM My friend is looking for a turbo kit or a supercharger for his 97 pontiac grand am, so far we have only found one, anybody know were we can find some more???? oh, its a 2.4 liter dohc.thx!!!!!! drdisque 12-17-2004, 03:45 PM the only supercharger specifically made for that car is the RSM Racing one www.rsmracing.com , also GM Performance parts makes one (roots type, unlike the centrifugal RSM kit) for the 2.4L J-body which would require a bit of modification to work on a GA, but shouldn't be TOO much trouble. Schister66 01-01-2005, 12:27 PM if you can supercharge it, i think you should do that. There are fewer problems with the installation and it would make as much power as the turbo w/o the hassle of excess tubing and intercooling, etc. beef_bourito 01-03-2005, 10:42 AM Let`s not go into which one is better, there have been counless threads about that. I agree that for your car a supercharger would be better because vortech offers a supercharger for it and turbos are hard to find for it. http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com -Jayson- 01-03-2005, 12:40 PM turbos are not hard to find at all for them. And the GM supercharger will be a direct bolt on. Just look for kits for cavaliers 2.4L 2000-2002 nissanfanatic 01-04-2005, 07:51 PM if you can supercharge it, i think you should do that. Air gets just as hot when its compressed by a supercharger as it does when its compressed by a turbocharger. The one with the higher efficiency makes less heat. Wanna go over 7psi? Better get an intercooler whether its a turbo or a supercharger. But where are you gonna put an intercooler on a supercharger that bolts directly to the manifold? Gotta look to different means of cooling the intake charge. Arguably, manifolds are gonna be a pain to find/make/install. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
