i am a new owenr of a 98 cheroke limited and was fooling around with the lights under neath the dash and the wiring came lose and all my dome luhgts blew out and dont work.. i recomected all the wires properly and it still does nothing.. i am pretty sure the fuse is blown.. can some one tell the location of the box. this is wuite urgent. thank you

I also have a '98 but mine is a Laredo. My fuse box is located on the passengers side near the feet. To be more specific, if I sit in my passenger seat the box would be next to my "right" foot, it's hidden behind a little door that easily pops out!

I think some Jeeps also have fuse boxes on the side of the dashboard (also on the passenger side). To access this box I believe you have to open the passenger door!

Not positive about this either but if you pull each fuse I'm sure you'll find one that has blown.

There is a little plastic tool that you could get from a parts store (it's small, about 2") which allows you to simply grip each side of the fuse while it's installed. Once you have each end gripped, there is a light on the end which will glow red if the fuse is blown, & green if it's good! This way you don't have to pull each fuse out individually.

This tool usually comes with a set of fuses, it's under $5.

If it still doesn't work after you change the fuse, you can go to this website to see what wires go where. I'm pretty sure you just blew a fuse because it doesn't take much to blow one if a bare power wire touches a ground source. Best of luck on your search.
