Whats The Best Turbo With Less LagKA-ALLTHAWAY 12-15-2004, 01:48 PM I Was Planning On Buying The Garrett T28, I Read On The Internet That They Are Coming Out With Or Its Already Out. Its A T28 Ball Bearing Turbo. Anyone Heard Of It Let Me Know R.W.240 12-15-2004, 02:34 PM The Garret T28 is OEM on the S14 / S15 Silvias. the S15 had the ball bearings. The Garret GT28RS (disco potato) is a good responsive turbo for low power levels. SCC has it on their 240 they and love it. I also belive there is just a GT28. I personally dont really like the GT28s because its a fairly large Compressor with the T25 Turbine. It does help lag but it sacrifices peak power (duh statment I guess) either way in my opinion IHI (Tomei / Apexi) > Garrett (HKS) > Mitsubishi and a T28 may be a little on the small side for a 2.4L KA-ALLTHAWAY 12-15-2004, 03:05 PM I Just Thought The T28 Was Good Because It Takes Less Time To Spool Up The Turbine KA-ALLTHAWAY 12-15-2004, 03:09 PM Why Do You Think That A T28 Is Small For A 2.4l D-Bo 12-15-2004, 04:15 PM its not TOO small but going a little bigger would be ideal.. like r.w. said, its from the oem s13-14, which are 2.0L.. they chose the most efficient turbo in terms of peak power and the least amount of lag.. the reason why you think the t28 is quick to spool is because its small, for the ka24(d)e. the larger it is the longer its gonna take to spool up with a small engine. obviously, if you want less lag, you're gonna have to give up peak power.. i'm not saying you can't use it, cause you could for sure but you'd get better use out of a bigger turbo. the 0.4L extra in the ka makes a huge difference mynismo 12-15-2004, 05:15 PM gt28rs has a lot of lag best turbo, least lag: gt2871r with .64 (t3 flange if possible). maxes out around 360whp with intake manifold and cams. full boost (20psi) around 3600rpm. nissanfanatic 12-15-2004, 05:28 PM T25 and they can put down around 260-270hp. A guy on 240sxfourms.com is running one. He says its just about instant spool. Combine that with a nice intake filter, good plumbing, a nice manifold,a and a 3" exhaust and you have a turbo that spools before you even think about starting your car. GTs are too expensive if you ask me. The efficiency on them is pretty impressive though. Not sure on the T28s but I'm sure they are just as fast if not faster. Then if you want something that will lay down a little more power and still spools by about 2.5k, try a Z31 T3. driftking777 12-15-2004, 07:54 PM thanks nismo for saying the gt2871R...i heard its an awesome turbo...since it is ball bearing spools not much above stock and has crazy output levels...comes in .64 trim and 84. i believe....im planning on getting that turbo with th .64 trim myself SR20DETpower 12-15-2004, 10:27 PM this question would be like asking a roomfull of drunk george bush following redneck christians and opium smoking ak 47 toting rag heads who is the real deity, God or Allah lol Tims_240 12-15-2004, 10:28 PM HHAHA, very true. Tims_240 12-15-2004, 10:29 PM Hey btw nissan fanatic, check ur pm's :) pnoiSR20 12-16-2004, 09:00 PM I heard in one forum, that when u take ur car in for smog, a turbo that is highly noticeable will cause u to fail the smog test? is that true? driftking777 12-16-2004, 09:06 PM only if you have the sr...the ka24 you shouldnt fail unless you actually just fail the smog by high outputs...if your in the acceptable range with a ka...even if it is turbo you should pass no problem...from my understandings...anyone correct me if im wrong nissanfanatic 12-16-2004, 09:29 PM Good tuning and a cat on the KA should allow you to pass. Hit_N_Run-player 12-16-2004, 10:08 PM what about visual? when i talked to the guy at DEQ he bitched at me for even throwing out the idea of turbo'ing the KA... pnoiSR20 12-16-2004, 10:48 PM ok that's kewl. driftking777 12-17-2004, 12:25 AM visual shouldnt matter becuase your allowed to have a turbo'd car as long as it runs healthy and what not...i.e..smog passes...the main reason the SR is illegal is becuase in stock trim it doesnt pass emissions and they dont like japans soil ect...again correct me if im wrong about the SR20 to usa BS mynismo 12-18-2004, 05:09 PM i ka will pass emissions better than an rwd sr20det any day... even with a turbo. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
