Just out of curiosity what is the difference between the LS and LT Trim Models of the 1500 non 4x4. The only things I can figure from snooping about the web is that the LT comes with Heated seats, a BOSE Sound system, Defrost mirrors, and OnStar??????

Anyone???? Just an out there question not a bigggy....

Happy Holidays. :grinno:

For what it's worth, my 2000 LT has what you described--Bose sound system, defrost mirrors, and heated seats--but NOT the OnStar. I have leather seats. :naughty: Not sure if that was an LT thing or not.

Not certain, but I don't think OnStar ever was a standard item.

Thats what I would like... an LT, with some leather heated seats, and maybe a FOURTH FUCKING DOOR! sorry about that. It just boggels my mind at y they would only put 3 doors on these things. Its not a minivan. Its just a pain in the ass. If theirs someting under my rear seat on my side i gotta get out and walk around the truck. I know, I bought it so I shouldent complain, but its the only truck I could afford at the time. My next truck will definetly have 4 doors.

once again I appologize for my little outburst.

i have an 02 LT but mine is the Z71 it has all that you mentioned and i love it, in my opinion well worth the extra money from the LS package. leather seats are an option for the LS package but they are not heated.the On star is very cool and also worth the cost and it saves you on your insurance cost too. my insurance company (as do most i believe) offer discounts to vehicles with on star.

I bought mine used, so I didn't have much of a selection. It was hard to find a Silverado that wasn't 4x4; I had a 4x4 before and so rarely used it that I figured my next vehicle didn't need to be 4x4.

I'm happy with my truck and the only thing that I miss is Heated Seats. Not too big of a deal on the West Coast of Canada and my truck sits in a garage at night too.

Thanks for letting me know fellas.....

my insurance agent didnt give me a discount. i have an '02 LT, with the most of the above. i didnt get bose in mine tho, so added an Alpine. gotta love the heated mirrors and seats. somewhere i read that not all LT's have leather. dunno for sure tho.

I got a discount on my insurance even from the factory anit theft system. I wonder if the discount will be greater when I get my Viper Alarm installed?

LS= Luxury Sport; cloth interior, mid-grade radio, non power (i.e. mirrors, locks, windows), basic aluminum alloy rims

LT=Luxury Touring; leather interior, all power (windows, mirrors, locks), high grade radio (i.e. Bose, cd & cassette, and now days maybe DVD), better of aluminum alloy rims or chrome (depending on vehicle), heated seats (if applicable), fog lights (if applicable)

LS trim can have some power features but usually not all power options are equipped w/this trim whereas LT has all power options. Main difference is cloth vs, leather and different style rims. LT trim usually comes equipped with biggest motor offered on that vehicles line, whereas LS is typically smaller engine choice but some come with bigger motor. In other words, there is a motor choice with LS trim while LT is usually always 1 engine choice

and heres more:

LTZ=Luxury Touring w/ Z-package (as is Z71, Z24, etc.; LT trim as described above with some Z-like package components as well. Z packages are typically different (better) suspension (either for off-road <Z66, Z71> or sports handling<Z24, Z28>)

Cool, I guess the only two things I'm really missing are the heated seats and High end Radio. No biggy, Panasonic CQ-C8400U CD/MP3 player is going in, in a couple of months..

Greetings Chuck16,

In 2004 when discussing rear wheel drive - the lines are blurred between what is an LS and what is an LT. Some of the NORMAL differences are:

Fog lights, auto climate control (versus manual dual heating/air), On Star, power seat is 10 way adjustable instead of 6, 40/20/40 bench versus bucket seats. LT's can come with leather (many do), XM radio, CD changer, power seat etc..

But I found out that most dealers order all their trucks where they specify the options anyway. Strangely - you can get the Limited Appearance package (Z60 suspension, 20" wheels and tires) on the LS or LT - but only the LS offers the Performance package that I have and that I'm aware of (6 liter high output engine and hd transmission).

I looked long and hard - because I wanted the Deluxe cloth 40/20/40 bench seat instead of the leather buckets - and wanted the Limited Appearance and Performance Packages. The truck I found also had XM radio/cassette/single CD, power drivers seat, auto climate control, fog lights, and I traded with the dealership to get the auto diming side mirrors that tip down in reverse (love em').
