thudding when accelerating and stopping

Hi, I recently bought my 1991 camry... within two weeks, my driverside axle needed replacing (apprently the boot had been torn for a while and on thanksgiving it started giving me a lovly popping/knocking noise under my feet. i could literally feel and hear it).
So my friend was going to fix it for me by giving me two new axles but it totally broke as i was pulling into his driveway (little ball bearings spilled everywhere and the car became an expensive lawn ordament)
so he proceeded to try to fix it/replace them but found my driverside one was completly stuck so after quite a while, he gave up.
we took it to a shop, they replaced both front axles.

i got the car back on wednesday night... i drove around about 50-60miles maybe on thursday and another 30-40miles on friday. as i was coming home....

i was slowing down when i got to my block and noticed a THUMP THUMP under my feet. (same "spot" aprrox. that i felt with the poppin with the cv joint axle thing)... it wasn't that loud, i mostly felt it. so i drove aroun da lil more and it kept doing it.
drove it avery small amount this wkend but whenever i was at a complete or near stop and went to accelerate, it'd thump either once or twice. seems to have gotten a lil louder and now it does it at 90% of my starts and also does it when i stop the car (always under 20mph...either going or stopping).

could it be my new axles don't like me? theres a yr warrenty on parts and labor...should i call the shop or will they try to screw me over & charge me for stuff??

please help...

I think the only chance you have is to bring it back. It is probably one of the new half shafts has a bad CV joint (or it doesn't like you, depending on how you look at it).

I agree with Brian R.

Take it back where the repairs were done and get their opinion. If they give you a hard time or try to charge you for other things, you may want to get a second and written opinion at another shop. However, you may have to pay for that second opinion and since they didn't provide the warranty, you will have to pay for labor and probably parts. Although you may not if they sell the same brand driveaxle(s).

You may also want to try to directly contact the manufacturer of the driveaxle. See if they have a Website or do a search on their name. I have directly contacted Car Component Technologies (CCT), who supplied both of my recently changed driveaxles, and gotten technical assistance.

Replacement driveaxles do go bad.
