For the last week or so I have been hearing a noise when I start and accelerate in my Grand Voyager. Whining is the best I can explain it but that doesnt really fit either. The noise gets faster and louder the more I accelerate or step on the gas. It even does it in Neutral. Anyway this morning I started the van put it in Reverse and it took a couple seconds to engage. Then I backed out and put it in Drive and it stayed in drive for a second then all the gears lit up on the dash like it was in Park. It wouldn't go anywhere. Finally I turned it off and turned it back on and put it in Reverse and backed up a little and then got it to go in Drive long enough to get it back in my driveway. Any help?

Possibly the solenoid for the tranny. The whining that you describe sounds like a belt or something but the way you talk about the lights and shifting gears, I would say possibly the solenoid. Far reach but very possible.

I have also had this happen not once but twice now...I hate to possible bring the bad news but my 91 grand caravan did that when the Front pump went in the trans....heres a way to check take the output line loose from the raidiator and start the van check to see if you have good flow and if you dont but still have some flow change filter and fluid and run some dura lube in it....fixed mine for about 8 months...then she went....replaced the trans and then she went again....I like the grand caravans but there trannys are something to be desired!!!!!
