I need help before I spend alot of money. The front Suspension spring on the drivers side of the car is about 1/2" from rubbing the tire. I stopped by my BMW dealer and he side it was caused by bad STRUTS. Does this make sense or could thet be some other reason causing this condition. By the way, I did take the tires off the front and the springs look ok. Please help. If it is the Struts can someone tell me the best way to replace them.

Thanks

I recently had a front strut off my car and was surprised to find that the tyre is indeed very close to the spring etc. However, it never actually comes in contact and is perfectly safe. No worries, honest. Removing the actual suspension/ strut is very straightforward, just nuts and bolts really, and of course the electrical plugs also. Need details? Let me know.

Could it be that the car's original tires and/or wheels have been replaced with larger ones?

It would seem that an old and weak strut would allow more play than one in good shape and COULD be a problem. But there's the question of how close is too close? I don't know.
