what car do u think will win a stock 00' eclipse gt (V6) or a stock rsx type s ?

As this has been said in every post about "Which car would win" It all depends on the driver. A horrible driver driving a ford gt could lose to a (I cant believe in about to say it) a good driver driving a kia. Also it would depend on what you are trying to win, a car that runs a 10 sec 1/4 probably wouldnt be a great car in autocross....so to put it simply, I would win...

Stock for stock? The GT will beat the RSX off the line and makes max hp and torque before the RSX will, but if the race were long enough and speeds high enough (considering the driver is competent) you might catch up. I'd most likely bet on the Eclipse, though. That being said, for a 4 vs. 6 cylinder race, the RSX stands up well.

From a roll def. the RSX, from a stop it'll still be the RSX.

heh it takes the gt over 7 seconds to get to 60mph how fast is a rsx type-s to 60?

I've heard between 6.2 and 6.8....with me driving its about 9.7...

Mid 6's for the RSX. Car and driver hit 6.1 as did one or two other magazines, but most people get mid to high 6s. MSN Autos originally got 8.6 seconds and the fat, bald guy reviewing it said it was very fast:D Musta pissed his diapers and slammed on the brakes.

I'm pretty surprised the GT has a slower quarter mile seeing as how it has slightly more hp and better torque. Did I read the right specs?

The 2000 Eclipse GT makes 205hp and torque...but I would assume that it weighs a good amount more...and its mitsubishi...

The GT might make slighty better numbers at peak but the rsx might make more during the powerband where it matters.

Also power to weight ratio comes into play. If anything the GT is gonna be good up top not down low.

I have raced a few GT's from a roll and a stop, a slow roll and stop I just pull away hard from a higher speed roll is where they hang and I slowly walk away.

Yup. Went back and checked curb weight of the GT. It's got about 500 lbs. on the RSX. Fatass Mitsubishi...

My mother has a Spyder GTS. If that sucker has a few pounds on the RSX, you'd hardly know it. Built like sh*t, but a lot of fun to drive.

I had heard that the next generation eclipse was getting Mitsubishis 3.8L 265hp V6 and an electric motor in the back....any truth?

Mitsubishi lost it's bail-out funding from Daimler-Chrysler earlier this year. The company may close down if it can't pick itself up by the bootstraps.

Everyone in this forum should go out and buy a couple of Evos to keep Mitsubishi out of bankruptcy.

how can evo's suck? 270 hp and tons of torq not enough for u? and at that price compared to the STi? how can u say evo sucks?

By the way i do agree that the RSX is a lil better than the new 00+ eclipse gt because everyyear the eclipse is made.. its made fatter. if the 00+ eclipse had a 4g63 engine.. the rsx will get smoked. It depends on the driver, would be a nice race though.

I'd take an RX-8 or G35, for me the EVO has insane performance, but that's not all I look for in a car.

The Evo is good, even though it isnt exactly the best looking car in the world. Still though I would take it over a G35.

I can think of a bunch of cars I'd take over the Evo in that price range or below. I'd take an IS300 over an Evo. There are fast cars and class cars and some with both. The Evo is just fast.

Exactly, i'd even keep my RSX over an EVO.

Although I disagree with you again, EvoCrazy, I love the looks of the EVO...the tails are iffy although you can get MR or european or JDM tails....

In terms of new cars, i'd take a RX-8, TSX, TL, RSX, IS300, 350Z, G35C, G35, WRX, STi (its uglier but I feel its more reliable and has a nicer interior). Although if I had two cars so I coul use one for the track and one for everything else, def. the EVO.

I absolutely love the Evo...My plan in the future is to go to the states and buy one there and bring it up...I just love the looks and the maddening performance...yes thats right I do like how it looks...

Mason - I've heard that some Mitsu dealers will import the EVO's, make mods to the intercooler for a couple of thou and you can get an EVO up here, but i'm not sure how true that is.

RSX-S is a great FWD car. I love that car. But what got to me was a guy who owns a 89 Civic hatch calling the Evo crap..

I wouldn't buy an EVO, but I agree, the EVO isn't crap.

I think it would be a drivers race also. I've raced 3 of the 00+ V6 Eclipses (2 GT's and one GTS), and beat all of them by about a couple cars or so.. drivers must have not been top notch. The Celica GT-S and RSX-S are very very evenly matched so I'd definitely say drivers race with the eclipse, with a slight advantage to the RSX.

I test drove a G35, it was fast.
I test drove an Evo, I crapped my pants.
No joke, I was passing cars on the freeway as if they were parked.
It's as close to a Porsche, Ferrari, or Lamborghini that I will ever be able to afford.

Love the evos....the only thing i noticed is that their boosted within an inch of their life from the factory......but its a monster.....i test drove one too but the insurance is crazy.... wish i could have one though.....i have have beat a couple 00+ eclipse gt's from stop.... i have caught all of them by the time i shift out of 2nd

There was that video of a Evolution FQ400 (I wonder if Mitsu really meant for FQ to stand for fucking quick like a lot of people have said) beating a Gallardo.

eclipse gt hits 60 in like 7+ s. while a celica-gts or rsx-s will do in in the low 6s. But then again if the driver cant dreve the celicaOrRsx then you never know.

How could you say that evo suck. Didn't your parents tell you that drugs are bad. I think that the evos look bad ass as for the rsx vs the 3g. for lowend the rsx is worthless highend the 3g is worthless. My friend has a g-35 he said that it is quick but the evo is faster. The 4g eclipse is a 3.5 liter and is no longer a concept.

Running it at 10 psi durring the commute versus the factory 19 psi, would extend the life of the engine.

The engine is fine it is able to handle way more than the 271 it comes with on the stock internals.. You must also consider that you are only under boost for so long so, its not like you are running hard all the time, just when you are racing.

This car comes with the same motor that the 350 z has so it could also be considered a sports car in a way but there is still no comparison between the two

nope ita not a concept...anymore... its going toe coming out in late 05 or early 06-according to moter trend. I would go with the Rsx type-S. You would think that the mitsubishi would win becasue of its "power" but the stats show different. The RSX runs low to mid 6's *depending on the driver* i would go with the rsx!

The Mitsu has power, but even Miss Piggy thinks that boat is one heavy mofo.
