Hi, I'm new here.

I'm looking to buy a car in the near future and I think I have it down to these two. I was wondering what car is more reliable and an overall better value for the dollar. Here are the specs:

2001 Nissan Altima GXE Sedan, 32000 miles, 4-cyl, 2.4 liter automatic, dual airbags.

2002 VW Jetta GLS 1.8T, 40000 miles, 4-cyl 1.8 liter turbo w/tiptronic automatic transmission, ABS, front and side collision airbags

Both cars have the remainder of the factory warranty on them, as well as a further warranty I plan to purchase from the dealer. I am looking to buy from ''certified'' Nissan and VW dealrs, not from the newspaper.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

the VW is a hell of alot more car and will be alot more fun to drive. However, you may have more problems dow n the line with it if you plan on keeping it past the warranty expiration. That Altima is a complete appliance with no zest or gusto.
