...about being forced to give-up the SE-R, although I still wish I had one (and I will again).

After 3 weeks of owning the comfy Olds, I can say that it makes my 67-mile total daily commute seem a lot less longer.

And I have at least proven that the car is faster than:
Some young punk in a Taurus that kept cutting me off, and finally got his. A riced-out, fart-canned, mid '90s Altima A newer Integra non-VTEC, at least off-the-line, as we both gunned for a merge. A Dodge Avenger V6.And all the while, I am surrounded by comfy leather, a Bose sound-system, and automatic climate-control. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/icon16.gif

I can only imagine what it would be like to have 100X the luxury, and prestige, and 200X the speed. Now I can truly understand the AMG Mercedes hype.

I only wish I could shift for myself. I've never been an automatic kind of guy.

This totally confirms my thought. I would like to spend the most on a nice family sedan, good speed, great comfort, and the rest on a "cruiser"...say a Stang or Camaro (modded of course). As you're finding out, leather and climate control are indeed very nice substitues for power. Maybe.

I guess you have your ups and downs. But I would take performance over comfort any day. That's just me though. Late...

I know how you feel, so that's why I drive what I drive.

I'd rather have heated leather seats in the winter and navigation and be just a little slower than these V8s instead of having a little more power that I won't need anyway 95% of the time.

That little more power that true performance cars could give me don't outweigh the comfort of a luxury sports car.

my eclipse is comfortable power...i dont' know if you've ever sat in the new ones but the seats are awesome! the infinity sound system has it going on, the shifting is smooth the clutch is easy. however i've been driving my mom's concorde around for the last month and a half bcuz of my scrape w/ a curb though and i would give anything to have my car back right now...looks like the new rims will be in by friday though and i'll get to test out the new intake :-D

When I test drove the new GT-S, one of the things I noticed was that the seats were very comfortable for the size of the car, and that it was quite a bit more roomy than the Stang I had been looking at.

Yeah, that was one of the reasons I wanted the GTS. In fact, one of the few reasons I didn't get one is that they didn't have the color I wanted, and it would have taken them like, half a year to get it or something like that...btw, do you know what happened on 70 last night? Me and some buds were going to go see Oceans 12 (greatmovie, everyone should see it), and traffic was backed up to all hell...

Why don't you get something with speed and comfort, like a BMW 540i.

You are reading my mind. If I could afford it right now, that is what I would be driving, and would not be missing my SE-R at all. Preferrably a 540i 6-speed.

I dunno, I like being close to the road and feeling every little bump and dip, lets me know what's going on in the road and lets me make driving adjustments accordingly.

I'm happy with my 89 LeSabre T-Type for pretty much the same reasons you're happy with your Olds. It's a quick little car, with leather seats, power windows/mirrors, good climate control, roomy, and still maintains a somewhat sporty look being a coupe.

Comfort be damned. I like having a stiff suspension.

I don't know about you guys, but if I were to buy a brand new BMW, it'd either be an M5 (heh heh heh), or a 330xi. Why the "xi" you ask? AWD, baby.

Man, hoipe ya got 50k min to throw around...I have a few minutes seat time in a 330xi, not that impressed with their AWD system. It was nice, very smooth, but it was also an auto, so its not like I coulda gone BTTW like on an EVO or STi. Id love to have an E46 ///M3, just so fun to drive...wish I had the money. Damned college.

the seats are comfy the ride isn't always that comfy, not as comfy as, lets see, an aurora or a caddilac or something of that nature

Yeah, If I had 50 grand, I'd get the new RL. V6 300 hp isn't that fast, but where else can you get SH-AWD (can transfer up to 90% of power to one wheel in a turn), moving headlights that can turn up to 20 degrees as you're making a turn, and climate control that changes the climate in different parts of the car depending from which side the sun is shining...and still beat a BMW around the track for under $50K?

If I had 50 grand, I'd just get an E39 ///M5. I'm not a huge gizzmo and gadget fan (although everyone who complains about iDrive needs to learn how to use a mouse, its one of the easiest control systems I've ever used), so it would be fine for me. Where else can you get a grocery getter than can hold with an SS and seat five comfortbaly?

Yum.

Oh yeah, and expensive.

STi, Evo, Chrysler 300C and an E55 AMG :iceslolan

CassiesMan

And how many of those weill hold the luxery value and prestige of the ///M5? Only the AMG. The Chrysler is the ugliest thing I have ever seen in my life. The EVO and STi are fast, but I wouldn't consider them SS fast, and having ridden in one, the backseats and front seats are far from comfortable compared to the ///M5s.

The AMG is nice, but I'd rather have the ///M5 becuase as far as I have read and seen, all the mags say that when it comes to BMW v Benz, the Benz may be a faster car or a nicer ride, but the Bimmer is just so much more fun to drive. I mean, my mom's C320 can (and has) ripped my 325i a new one...but the Benz has more body roll then a fat chick at a rave, and having taken my 325i and thrown it into a turn hard...its just fun.

I've got a friend with an all wheel drive turbo volvo, one of the newest ones and I've never ever considered volvos anything special but the model he has blows the others out of the water (IMO).
