MultiFunction Lever 85RageCage 12-12-2004, 11:35 AM Hi, How much of a pain is it to replace a multifunction lever on an 85 Caprice ? I think the wiper controls may be worn out. Low, High, and intermittent don't work at all today. Yesterday they were working, but not properly. I can't see any screws to remove to get the lever out, or to remove the steering column. Thanks CD Smalley 12-12-2004, 04:19 PM find the wiring harness connection under the dash and disconnect them. Then just pull on the lever. It will come out. RageCage 12-12-2004, 04:48 PM Thanks. TommySS 12-12-2004, 05:36 PM Are you sure it's the switch? How about checking the electronics under the hood on the wiper motor. There's a circuit board that also causes problems. Well, I replaced the circuit board / washer pump combo yesterday, and the wipers work again, but they stll are weird. They park after each sweep. Only intermittent works normally. And if I use the high setting, the motor squeals and smoke comes out of the motor (or maybe the washerpump that is mounted to it) !!! I am serious. I'm afraid to use the high setting. Maybe the motor is going bad. Squealing is just not right. Would a bad motor make the wipers park after each sweep? Maybe the bad motor is screwing up the circuit board? Jeez. TommySS 12-13-2004, 07:32 PM I ended up installing a new wiper motor too. RageCage 12-14-2004, 03:40 PM I ended up installing a new wiper motor too. Ii just installed a rebuilt wiper motor which also had the washer pump / circuit board on it, and everything works right ! :) TommySS 12-14-2004, 06:10 PM woo hoo! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
