paint jobStealthx532 03-03-2002, 12:59 AM I have a 96' G20, i just bought it used, its maroon. i realy dont like the color, just wonderin, about hoe much would a quality paint job cost? maaco advertires some pretty cheap prices but i've heard that they dont do such a great job. squirrelmaster 03-03-2002, 01:16 AM uh ohh!! better get maaco! ...no kidding dude..i saw a tv ad the other day... $159 thats gotta tell you...they must do a half-a$$ed job i wouldnt be too trusting either hehe:) 95_G20_P10 03-03-2002, 01:17 AM yeah they prob thorw on like one coat (a base) and no clear or nething an thats all so it wont be nice howard_w13 03-03-2002, 11:04 AM Oh no! Better NOT get MAACO! :D $159 is very cheap. But as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. ;) P11GT 03-03-2002, 11:40 AM Originally posted by howard_w13 Oh no! Prolly lots of hidden charges to get a proper paint job. poppy_morenito 03-03-2002, 01:33 PM To get a quality repaint, meaning to remove old color ( to change color you need to do this ) , put down a new base and three to for coats of quality paint and clear it will cost at least $ 1000. Unless the shop is owned by your wife or girlfriend ... lukeyc3 03-03-2002, 07:01 PM I brought my 90 Eagle Talon TSi to Maaco after I got in an accident, but I got a meduim priced paint job from them, and they did about C work on it...I paid like $650 total for it however, I do agree that about $1000 sounds about right for an excellent paint job....$159 for a total paint job is perfect for like a 1985 Ford F-150 pickup truck, but not for your "luxury car"....Save up some money but dont take an Infiniti down there for $160 just cause the color is getting old... primera_gte 03-04-2002, 01:11 PM two bills. there was an earlier discussion about cheap paintjobs. ask around. satisfied customers are the best bet. killick 03-04-2002, 02:09 PM If you're gonna be changing the color of the car it's gonna cost you more because so much more needs to be painted. With a repaint of the same color, only the exterior of the car needs to be done. If you're changing the color, you need to repaint the engine bay, inside the trunk, door jambs, etc, etc. You wouldn't want the outside one color and everything else maroon. squirrelmaster 03-04-2002, 04:32 PM that's a good point, but wouldn't it involve having to strip the entire car? remove the engine and components, strip the doors, trunk.. what an awful mess.. Stealthx532 03-04-2002, 05:32 PM lol... i guess maroon isnt lookin to bad now. once i put rims and tinit the windows it should look hot anyway. SkylinesKillAll 03-04-2002, 05:51 PM i wouldnt really worry about painting the engine bay unless u plan on showing your car. u can get a nice paint job for about $1000-$1500 and they will paint everything but the engine bay including door jambs trunk ect. jus shop around for a good price P11GT 03-04-2002, 05:59 PM only problem is that some people may assume that different coloured parts of the car from the exterior is a result of accident damage, so when you come to resell the car, you may not get a good deal. people like their cars to be one colour. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
