01 Accord Headlights Opinions/ HelpPimped Out 4 LYF 12-11-2004, 01:50 AM Im looking for aftermarket headlights (not projectors) for an 01 Accord Sedan. Its silver, windows tinted black. Wondering which of these you guys think would look better? Im leaning toward black housing ($130 from autodynamic, good price?) Chrome Housing (http://216.82.69.117/transfer/dbimages/large/HA9800HCC.jpg) Black Housing (http://216.82.69.117/transfer/dbimages/large/HA9800HBC.jpg) Also would hyperwhites look nice for the signals in the front, or would it look weird having stock headlights and hyperwhite signal lights. Im just concerned about putting hyperwhite for headlights because they burn out quicker so for signals its easier since its not AS important if it burns out. Also the back of the 01 Accord, the taillight, is it illegal to put hyperwhite for the signal? Theres a sort of orangish look because of the bulb im thinking but if i change it to hyperwhite itll have a blueish look? Just wondering if thats illegal and if that would get rid of the ugly orange on that taillight? Thanks :) Pimped Out 4 LYF 12-11-2004, 11:54 PM geez no one? kro$s 12-13-2004, 11:35 AM Which headlights (bulbs) are you getting? Couldn't see the headlights, wern't showing up right. Pimped Out 4 LYF 12-13-2004, 02:37 PM I dont know im guessing any cheap 10 - 15$ bulbs would work since its just for the signals. Hyperwhites/Superwhites have the blueish tint on them so during the day they look blue when the lights arent on. That wouldnt get me any tickets from cops thinking i have blue signals would it? Any suggestions on brands to avoid that burn out quick? And Would it be illegal to have hyperwhites/superwhites as rear signal lights since the reverse lights are also white? Chrome Housing Headlights http://216.82.69.117/transfer/dbimages/large/HA9800HCC.jpg Black Housing Headlights http://216.82.69.117/transfer/dbimages/large/HA9800HBC.jpg kro$s 12-13-2004, 03:05 PM Go with the chrome, those look clean and sharp. And will look real nice on a silver accord, as far as bulbs go check out these http://www.autobarn.net/euxecrlseheb.html if you just want to go with the blue look. They will last longer and look better, although I think you should either get PIAA's or HID's. Pimped Out 4 LYF 12-13-2004, 03:23 PM What about xenon HID HB4 Superwhite's from ebay? About $20 shipped, are they any good? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3730883841&category=36476 And how do i know which part number i should get from the autobarn site? My low beams are 9006, high beams 9005. 55watts or 80 watts for low beams?? Dont want to put unsafe wattage, would signals be considered high beam though? Anytime you can get 7000k bulbs for under $40 there is a problem, you honestly pay for what you get. 80watt is going to burn brighter/draw more power from your battery meaning that if your car is off and your lights are on for a long time it's going to drain your battery quicker then a 55watt bulbs, depending on your harnesses if you keep the lights on for a long time then it might start to burn. It just varies based on your set up, i'm not too sure how the Harnesses on honda's are, but the Maxima's are really tough and i've run 7000k 130w bulbs in my headlights for four months and haven't had a problem. Pimped Out 4 LYF 12-13-2004, 04:05 PM What about the xenon ones you showed me from autobarn, will those burn out quick too since its still pretty cheap (doesnt mention if its 700k). What seperates these from the ebay ones? And what about these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&tc=photo&item=7940739320&category=36476 $23 shipped come with lifetime warranty? Although it does look like a knockoff fake brand.. hah. Is autobarn any good to buy from? Something tells me not to trust it since its .net not .com kro$s 12-15-2004, 08:51 AM What about the xenon ones you showed me from autobarn, will those burn out quick too since its still pretty cheap (doesnt mention if its 700k). Something tells me not to trust it since its .net not .com Those look like ideal lights, haven't seen many Ebay bulbs with a warranty, good looking out. Autobarn is a good company to buy from, I had a set of lights in my Avalon for about 8months and they burned white and bright all the time (day time running lights), they were suppose to last 12 months, but considering that they are on all the time that's pretty darn good. But mos def go with those lights on Ebay man, you can't really beat that unless you wanna up your spending and get HID's (which I think you should consider for the future) kro$s 12-15-2004, 06:20 PM Don't forget to post pics after you've decided which lighting setup your going with 00accord44 12-15-2004, 07:18 PM IMO the black housing lights would be much meaner looking on your car. I have a dark blue 2000 accord with the black housing, it looks real good. Black on silver is badass to me, especially with black tints. My dad has a silver 01 accord and I'm getting him some black housing lights like mine, he can't wait. :smokin: As for the taillights, a hyperwhite bulb wont shine anything but orange through the orange globe inside the housing. If you want a blue rear turn signal, youre either gonna have to open the housing and remove the orange globe or buy aftermarket lights with no globe. What I did on my car is put a red bulb in the turn signals ($5 from Autozone) to get a red turn signal. Its 100% legal and makes you different than all the other accords on the street (except mine and whoever else I just gave my idea away to  ) I did it cuz I hated the orange signals. Also, your front turn signals, hyperwhites do look a lil odd with stock headlights. If youre buying hyperwhite headlights, I suggest spending the extra dough on some PIAA bulbs. They'll run you $80 up front, but will last 3x longer than most cheap bulbs. If you dont want to shell out like that, Sylvania Silverstars are less expensive, but quality product. The harnesses on 6gen accords are pretty good. I've had my HID kit in for two years now with no problems, and HID kits are known for frying wire harnesses. But like stated before, you get what you pay for, even on ebay :2cents: :sunglasse Pimped Out 4 LYF 12-16-2004, 12:42 AM 00accord44 post some pics of your dads silver accord when you install the black housing :) id love to see, btw thanks for all the feedback guys il try posting pics when i get it done Silverbolt 12-18-2004, 07:08 AM Black housings all the way Dont use stock bulbs.. use PIAA and pure yellow turn signals... that would look clean.. and JDM'ish Taillight turn signals need to be yellow, amber or red. White is illegal... but sometimes its overlooked.. blue is VERY illegal, you wont last 5 minutes before getting pulled over. Pimped Out 4 LYF 12-18-2004, 11:41 PM Found some other bulbs people say are good, with lifetime warranty? Anyone ever heard of Xtreme Vision? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7924970465&category=36476 Xtreme Vision's... http://i16.ebayimg.com/01/i/02/8a/a8/77_1_b.JPG or what about Krypton Showoffs? heard they are really good too, anyone know anything? This is the only site i found that sells em.. http://www.hondatuner.com/headlightbulbs.html Showoffs.. http://www.importstreetscenes.com/members/attachment.php?attachmentid=65 Anyone know the stock wattage? and if im going to burn the harness or whatever with any of these bulbs? tencent 12-19-2004, 07:59 PM i vote for the black head lights only because I hate chrome and I have black ones similar to that on my accord. Silverbolt 12-19-2004, 08:22 PM Show Offs are very nice and bright. They come in a regular wattage version, and a high wattage version. When I used to use Show Offs, they only lasted me a few months... just like most other high wattage hyper whites. Thats why I switched to HIDs. I've seen HIDs in a black housing headlight just like the one above. It looks amazing! alphalanos 12-19-2004, 08:26 PM if i were you this is what i would do: get the silver(chrome) lights. then buy either Sylvania Silverstar or PIAA GTX bulbs. eckoman_pdx 12-20-2004, 02:32 AM As was stated, for the rear your turn signals must be either Red or Amber in most states; some states also allow yellow signals in the rear. For the fron the turn signals generally have to be yellow or amber, though so states allow white front signals, so check with your local DMV about lighting guidlines. As for bulbs, I agree with what was stated before also. Run yellow turn signals in front with a good qaulity set of bulbs. Only use PIAA (like the Super Plasma GT-X or Xtreme White) or Silverstars. They are not a true high wattage bulb. Read this link for an in-depth explination on this and more. READ ME (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=298500) PIAA has a 1 year warrenty on their bulbs, and Sil;verstar is the only other brand I would recommed. Do not use a "high wattage bulb." If your car uses a 55-watt bulb and you use a true high wattage bulb like a 80 watt bulb, it can cause pre-amture headlight failure, fry the wiring and/or harness, or worse cause an electrical fire. Here is a picture of PIAA Super Plamsa GT-X's with amber turn signals. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/501/70393HIDlook.jpg Here is a picture of projectors with PIAA Super Plasma's and yellow turn signals. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/70393PIAA_Super_Plasmas_in_projecotrs.JPG vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
