If its an E46 ///M3, then the ///M3 all the way. If its an E36, then I'm not sure, becuase I don't know hte stats on hte 3kgt sl's. Race and find out! Also, this should probably be in the comparisons forum.

E36 M3 should still beat the 3000GT SL. I believe the SL is 220 HP (not sure) vs. 245 for the E36 M3, plus the E36 M3 is somewhat lighter, plus it's RWD vs FWD (better launch) for the E36 M3.

E30 M3 vs SL would be close.

What a waste of a first impression/post. Look online for 5 seconds, and you'd find that an M3 (considering it's a newer one) would chew up, and shit out a 3000gt sl. Even the older ones would probably take an SL out with little drama.

1995 M3 beats 1995 3000gt SL every time. 0-60, 60-100, 1/4mi., autox, everything. My two best friends at college drive those two cars. Many races later, the M3 kicks all our asses at everything except foul-weather and dirt racing (when my WRX wins the day!). However, the 3000gt is more fun to drive and more comfortable to ride in, especially since my friend did the leather upholstry conversion. Plus, the 3000gt is broken less often and costs less to fix when it is.

Are you talking about the SL being more fun to drive than the WRX or the SL being more fun than the M3? The M3 is one of the most fun cars there is, E36 and E46.

And the E36 will hand a 3000GT SL his ass. It's about a second quicker in the quarter mile, which is quite a few car lengths.

The M will own the SL in pretty much every category.

This thread is such a waste of space. If you wanna compare the M3 to the 3000GT performancewise, then compare it to the VR4, not the SL.

Bit in terms of pure entertainment, its(Audi S4) like a dinner party. Civilized convorsation, glass of wine, bit of chardo on the stereo. The ///M3 on the other hand, is like a 2am Ibitha beach barbeque.

Agreed, when it comes down to it, the ///M3, no matter what model, is one of the most fun cars out there to drive, period.

:iagree: The M3's are gorgeous cars, especially the E46. I'm quite sure the E46 will take out stock VR4's, let alone SL's.

not even close. any one of the M3's can give the SL a generous headstart off the line and still blow his doors off at the end of the race.

Even a E30 M3 would win against the 3000GT. The E30 M3 puts out almost 200hp and weighs around 2700lbs its good for a high 14 or 15 flat in the 1/4.

Hell yeah the M3, I've raced one and no way a SL could hold up against one. the VR-4 vs. an M3 is deffenetly more appropriate.

Umm it's pretty obvious the M3 would work over the 3000GT...
